It still brings tears to my eyes watching British athletes standing on the podium, with the National Anthem being played.

We have potential golds in 3 boxing categories I think
  • Very much enjoyed the Beebs expert analysis of the pentathlon. In the same way that my wife always seems to sit down and hang on every word Mark Foster says about the swimming...a sport she has very little interest in.

Made all the more enjoyable by another GB win.

Sad to think with the inevitable break up of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the home nations will soon be getting the sort of medal count Spain is achieving.

Norway is producing a lot of good runners . what has happened to the African longer distance runners .. drug testing slowing them down ?

England would be well up near the top if it was competing on its own. A few team sports might be harder to compete in without Scottish team members, and there's obviously some Scottish individual medals, but it's not a big proportion. Very few Welsh competitors, and a lot of the Northern Ireland athletes already compete for Ireland not GB.

Overall there might even be a benefit - we could enter Scottish competitors as well as English. Two boxers in each weight division. A bit like the way there seem to be Kenyan long-distance runners competing for a variety of countries.

I don't think the break up is inevitable.

Lauren Price will win the last medal of the games for Team GB, in the boxing.

Just have to wait to see if it’ll be a gold or a silver…

Think that might be the most emotional I’ve ever seen someone after winning a medal! Fair play to her.

    What time is Price starting?

Unbelievable after his form earlier, absolute legend!!! 🐐

Would have had at least an extra silver, if not gold, if he had been allowed in the Keirin in 2012.

What a fantastic back story too.  Brought up by her grand parents, one time world kick boxing champion, capped for Wales at football, funded herself by cabbing.  Absolutely dominated her way to Olympic gold.
  • Really going to miss the early morning viewing of our achievements, seen me through the last few weeks with covid!
So pleased for Team GB after such a difficult 5 years for everyone.

Listened to this on the radio.  Wasn't quite sure which way it was going from the commentary, especially as Ferreira was described as strutting away confident of winning after every round.  The scores came in for the second round and I had my heart in my mouth for the third.  Fantastic win.

Kenny was unbelievable! Don’t think I’ve ever seen someone race a cycling final like that.
  • Well,Macron and Merkel, our little Island got almost  as many medals as Germany and France combined, our fourth overall place is a fantastic effort. Please can someone give Sam Querk a permanent job, this lady lit up our early morning screens, with her lovely smile and delightful personality.
  • Fantastic last day for our team. Just a shame Laura Kenny had a real piece of bad luck but she still comes away with a couple of medals.
I hope we can build on this games and make Paris even more special.
The medals may well be expensive but I like the feeling of being part a successful sporting nation.
