Goal Net Collapse

Gotta say I was amused by the efforts of our groundstaff to repair the goal net after Kandols miscued effort smahed into the stanchion. The initial cure started with a bloke just holding it up with his arm but eventually they got if fixed. Thing is, I'm surprised play wasn't stopped as if not what's the point of the lino checking the nets before the game? Still, saying that, the laws say that you only need a set of goalposts, nets aren't necessarily needed.

Imagine though if one of our guys had placed a sidefooter into the bottom right hand corner, the ball would've either stopped on the line (as the net was touching it) or it might've gone straight through and out the side, and knowing our luck it wouldn't have been given. Still, we never did so it didn't matter did it?

I'm surprised the incident wasn't highlighted on The Championship, which gave us a good showing I thought.

Thought the groundstaff had more effort and imagination than the entire B'ham team.
How are they top 3 ?

    Kevin philips.

early part of the season he must have won then 8-10 points by scoring goals in the last minute.

yep, they certainly gave a good showing of all the empty seats, on more than one occasion.

...did you see the lightening speed of the groundstaff when it happened? The most athletic slow saunter ever, possibly whilst muttering 'forby twobees' as they went...made the linseman look like Usain Bolt.

If we had proper goalposts and nets instead of those poxy Premier League ones, it wouldn't have happened. Get proper stanchions back and ditch the posey crap ones we've got.

PS: Used to like Grimsby's nets.....black and white stripes. And Sheff U's red and white ones too.

Crap coverage. Only interested in the emptiness of the ground, Shelvey's sell-on value and anything else that illustrated our impending relegation.

A shame, for a 0-0 it was quite an entertaining end-to-end game and they could've actually used it to show how our team are actually giving us fans something to be proud of despite being doomed.
