One ex player who will not be returning is Rob Elliot .
He has signed a two year deal with Watford . Clearly happy to be a third choice keeper in the Prem .

But it worked okay in 18/19. Priority #1 is getting the right players. If you have to wait for them, that is preferable to signing lower quality players early, imo. The difference in 18/19 was we were choosing to wait for players like Cullen and Bielik who had been lined up much earlier in the summer. Last year we were forced to wait by the embargo and ended up having to rush into signing what was still available, rather than players we had identified much earlier but just weren't definitely available until late on.

Assuming the squad will be the same size as last year
5 loans have gone back
5 players have been released
5 players have yet to sign the contracts we have offered.
In 18/19 we signed Taylor in later June and IIRC Pratley signed days before the season started and that was that for permanent signings. I don't actually think we would have signed both Beilek and Cullen if JFC hadn't got injured.
We need at least 8 or 9 players signed, or resigned, before the preseason friendly period starts. Else come November there will be people saying its OK we are 15th they just need time to gel.
N.B i don't think we will be 15tu in November but was making a point.0 -

It's a technicality but if you haven't offered a contract you have to release them.
And you would be pleased that our player of the year, who got seriously injured playing for us, would be unemployed? Seriously?
I get that you don't rate him but a years contract is the least he deserves.24 -

Maybe the medical diagnosis is worse than feared. Who knows. He has worked so hard to come back from injuries and I hope he does so again.0

OS article certainly seemed to suggest we offered JFC a deal, but maybe he's turned it down. Would be very disappointed if w didn't at least offer him some kind of deal and support with his rehab - it's actions like that that give us a good rep as a club as a place players want to play and why so many former players have affection for the club. Would be un-Charlton like to just ditch him, and not a direction I'd want the club to start going in.

It should be a one year extension to his current contract, remember that was originally signed at the start of Roland's austerity, and has already been rolled over twice.
