John Rooke RIP

Been involved behind the scenes at Charlton since the 70s, sadly died this morning.

I’m sure would be known to many on here.

    RIP

Sad news, met John a few times and he was fanatical about Charlton.

Worked at the training ground and was also very much involved in the Former Players Association.

Top man. Always remember him standing out on the east terrace when it was being redeveloped. Hard hat on, retrieving footballs in all weather. A really great guy.

RIP John. He gave so much for the club.

I remember when the Alan Curbishley Stand was being constructed, a visiting manager complained on TV that as ball boy on the building site, John was very quick to get the ball back for us but very slow for them.

I raised this with John, he simply smiled and said, 'it had to be done'. Top man.
