Have to say Konsa has improved an awful lot since he left Charlton. I never thought he'd reach the level he has.CAFCsayer said:

You know I never rated Lookman that highly......yes, I know he was a good player but not top drawer as far as I’m concerned.
Never really “rocked my boat” as the saying goes.4 -

Can see him ending up at Liverpool4 -
He has certainly stepped it up. The move to Brentford gave him the opportunity to play against better players, as has the move to Villa. Sometimes players just need to be tested all the time. We used him at Right Back and as a holding midfielder at times, to accommodate players like Pearce and Harry Lennon! Dean Smith played him in his correct position at Brentford and Villa and as a consequence Konsa has flourished. Obviously helps to have better players in his own team as well.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:

I don't watch SPL but after hearing the recent success of rangers, it makes me wonder how Aribo might be getting on.
Obviously he's doing well.
Is he a Gerrard favourite? Assume Gerrard will at some point, either end up being England or liverpool manager.
How much potential does Aribo currently have at present? Will he be going very far?0 -
Congrats to him, destined for the Prem me thinks.0

Pretty much one of the first names on Gerrard's team sheet. 82 appearances and 16 goals in less than 2 seasons. Has also played 6 games and scored twice for Nigeria since leaving us.Dave2l said:I don't watch SPL but after hearing the recent success of rangers, it makes me wonder how Aribo might be getting on.

I always enjoy reading these threads about how a youngster we let leave for peanuts is doing well whilst we continue to flounder around in L14

I've watched him quite a lot this season and not sure if he's destined for the top level. I'm sure Gerrard is improving him as a player but there is still work to be done - still not consistent enough.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

If we had relatively decent owners prior to September 2020
We'd be living it big £££
We have a great academy and it's one to be proud of.
Incredibly muggy with it though. No pride.
It's like the world's most famous pornstar performing a lap dance on a 52 year old bus driver from plumstead. For free.
Makes minimal sense.
"Trade" is not what we are about these days. Richard Murray is partially to blame for it.2 -
We got a 300k fee because it was a cross border move. It would've been a bigger compensation fee if he'd stayed in England.Todds_right_hook said:

"If Aribo had joined another club in England, the Championship side would have been in line for a higher fee.The Premier League and Football League have rules and regulations in place for a player under the age of 24 moving between to English clubs.
One of the most high profile cases was Danny Ings' move from Burnley to Liverpool in 2015 with the Anfield side instructed to pay £6.5million for the striker, plus potential add-ons.
The player was out of contract at Burnley but since he was under the age of 24 the Clarets were due a compensation fee for the "training and development of the centre-forward", as per sports lawyer Dan Lowen.
When English clubs are unable to come to an agreement over a fee in such a situation the Professional Football Compensation Committee (PFCC) makes the decision.
The tribunal takes into a range of factors, including the player's playing record, interest from other clubs, the contracts on offer, previous fee, age and time with the academy.
The move became headlines news due to the fee.
If Ings had moved abroad or to Celtic or Rangers, however, Burnley would have been entitled to just €270,000 through Fifa's "training compensation regime".
Since the PFCC have no "jurisdiction" for cross-border moves it is the much lower Fifa fee which comes into play, opening up an advantageous route for Scottish clubs."

From what you say, it sounds like a good bet that he will feature against Slavia Prague? Hope so, and hope he does well against them. Since Slavia beat Leicester (admittedly an outstanding result) "billy big bollocks" doesn't even begin to cover the noise around that club.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

The Slavia match is a hard one to call from a Rangers perspective. Rangers have been playing well and had some great results in Europe this season but after winning the 55th title and (probably more importantly!) stopping Celtic’s 10 in a row it could all be a bit after the Lord Mayors show.PragueAddick said:

Quite a few people have asked how Aribo is perceived by Rangers fans, a Rangers podcast that I listen to run a player ratings thing post match (has nothing on the great work we get from @lancashire lad of course!).I noticed that Aribo’s summary from the St Mirren match on Saturday was more a bit of a summary of his season rather than a match rating per se so thought those of you that are curious might be interested:
“Joe Aribo – 7.8 (8)When he wants to, he can be a top baller. Aggression is the key to this, he just needs to find a way to make that more consistent over the season. Having had his injury issues earlier on, it maybe took him a while to find that initial form at the start of the season again but all the same, he has been so useful in games over the campaign and deserves to be remembered as someone who made a good impact over this amazing season.”

I would imagine they have been partying non stop since Sunday, like I predicted this could definitely be an “after the Lord Mayors show” type situation, looks like it will be.0

One last thing on last nights match, and this is taking this thread waaaay off of the original topic but this is an incredible save from Allan McGregor. Because he holds onto the ball it looks less impressive but is actually more so. 39 years old too!

The local commentary team were glad to see the back of him in the end. Typical Joe really, anonymous in the first half, but at H-T Gerrard moved him and gave him a free role. Twice he got round the back of defenders and fed beautiful low balls across the box which just begged to be converted.sam3110 said:And now subbed off
@AllysArmy You'd fling your toys out of the pram if you'd been sold down the river by an idiot owner like Duchatelet, who offered Aribo a contract and then withdrew it again, thus depriving the club of a decent fee.0 -

Of all the things Bowyer has done in his life that may look silly I think expressing his upset at one of his best players leaving for next to nothing to go play a handful of competitive games a season in a shite league is not one that will bother him unduly.AllysArmy said:
