Three points! Sometimes what you need is an ugly win. We weren’t that ugly tonight, but it wasn’t quite beautiful either. It wasn’t about performance tonight, it was all about the result. Wigan were there for the taking and we took ‘em.
First half we looked quite good and should have had a penalty when Chuks was given a Goldberg spear in the box. Still, having missed that, the officials were better than at the weekend.
Second half was a little nervy. We defended quite well at times and, even though they persisted, and we suffered minor lapses in concentration, we never allowed any clear chances.
We’ve given ourselves a chance to turn this around.
Over to you.

Out of interest, where is everyone sitting at Wembley?80

Clean sheet is probably the most important thing about that game.
Otherwise it's just a 1-0 win against bottom of the table. Nothing to get too excited about but it's stopped the rot which is important.26 -
We needed 3 points. We got 3 points.Pearce, Watson and JFC superb.28

Not a huge amount of football but dug in to get the much needed 3 points.1

a win, a clean sheet, a result ... that's all that mattered tonight, not bothered how it was done
... and should have been two anyway as Chuks being pushed was a penalty4 -
Take the three points however you can get them when you're going through a run like this.
What I saw in terms of effort levels was very encouraging - a complete 180 degree turn from Blackpool at the weekend.17 -

Minto; "When did you know you would be starting Chuks?"
Chuks: "Before the game, to be fair."
All's well then.

A win is a win.
I don’t think it was an amazing performance but then after our run I don’t think it ever was going to be.
This win gives us something to build on and getting a result on Saturday is going to be massive.3 - Sponsored links:

3 POINTS!
We bloody got 3 POINTS!!1 -
3 points closer to safety!0

Better than Saturday (not hard), 3 points and a clean sheet.
Unconvincing, and a better team than Wigan would have scored a couple against us this eve, but it doesn't matter - a win's a win.6 -
Bullied our way to three points. Chuffed.5

Did Chuks say that win was for Bowyer?
I hope any differences they've had has been put to bed and everyone can start being on the same page. I think LB's tactical frailties will find us out but its good to hear from Chuks.11 - Sponsored links:

Very happy we have got the win, and the players showed that they want to battle.
And battle they did.
But for me that performance is indicative of us under Bowyer in recent times. One decent half, and another where we can't get a foot hold on the game at all and get the feeling that a more clinical team would have finished us off.

Well at least LB can stop cacking his pants - Well at least until Saturday!

Chuks: "the defender pushed me over, but I don't get those kinds of decision"

Back to winning ways. It weren’t pretty but we won. Just when you want players to step up to the plate .. step forward Jason Pearce. Thought he had a good game tonight. BOWYER IN

Doucher was right, the players hate Bowyer otherwise they would have won three nil.11

Should see us safe now 😬0

It wasn’t pretty, but it was a proper ‘team working for each other’ performance. Which with everything going on was great to see.Number of really good performances, but it was also supplemented by players like Washington doing a real shift for the team.So pleased to get a win.29

Call me negative or miserable I don't care, I see this as the sort of average 1 nil win over 23rd that will keep bowyer in a job, like Bristol rovers. I just can't be positive about our situation because any decent team beats us, and beating very poor teams allows this too carry on.16

Taking into account that Wigan gave Peterborough a good game last time out, I wasn’t expecting an easy game, so I am well happy with this result - proper team performance tonight, AND we had fight AND we generally looked well organised AND we defended much better - not perfect, but MUCH better21

Curbs always talked about stopping the rot. We’ve done that tonight and now have a chance to turn things around and start heading in the right direction. Hopefully, the team can take a bit of confidence away from this win and we can generate a bit of our own luck.26
