He's 31. His club now has a policy of rebuilding with younger players.

I listened to an interview with Lincoln boss. Their club was at a crossroads last season. Average age in the squad was 31. They've cut out all the dead wood and now have an average of '22'. Despite this youthfull team they have gone with hungry youngsters on loan from the Prem clubs to give them the quality, pace and fitness, that sits them top of the league. This wasn't an accident, it was the strategy. Maybe Bowyer, Gallen and Thomas, should take note.

They did, back in our promotion year 2 seasons ago.

It's all about balance though. Lincoln might well have a team of hungry young guns " average of 22". But you can bet your life they've got a couple of older heads, experienced players, to give leadership and hold it all together.

There's an old adage ...... "you don't win anything with a team full of kids", that's been more or less proven in all my more than 50 years of following football. That's not to say it could never happen, but the chances are quite small ..... trouble is, for all their talent, inexperienced players are just that until they get a few seasons worth of games under their belt. Teams full of youngsters can show a lot of promise, but they have a tendency to fall away just when it matters.

I'm not really disagreeing with you though. While we've got a few over 30s including a couple of 35 year olds, there's also a nucleus of players who should be in their prime right now, aged 25 to 30 - and they should have enough legs and pace to play at their best. Remember players don't suddenly become 'past it' the day they hit their 30th birthday - that all depends on how well they've looked after themselves, luck with injuries, etc.

Some players don't naturally have pace, some do .... and I'll agree with you, right now we're crying out for more pace on the counter.
But then Bowyer himself has already said that recently.

Doncaster must be kicking themselves. Released him in the summer and he's even been linked with 1/2 Prem clubs.

Armand Gnanduillet has become available on a free? I know it seems pretty much stamped that we are getting Ronnie but if it fell through, would anyone fancy him coming in?

His record in a bang average Blackpool team is decent. 

I would have him AND Schwartz. Ditch Bogle & then you have 4 strikers to rotate.

Except with the wages cap you can't  legally do that without movement in first and then guaranteed movement out. Anyway why is Gnanduillet being heaved out ? Footballers seeking work all over the place at present so I can't see it as a voluntary move. 

Funny place to go and play football in Turkey it seems. You either are massive success and stay for a few years or you dont hit the ground running and your contract is cancelled.

All about money, I suppose.

No doubt offered a better contract in Turkey than he was offered in the UK.
Plus, if you make a success of it, the Turks will give you cult status.

But if it all goes flat, you're a long way from home.
Mentally tough, especially with all the Covid restrictions.

So, we wont be seeing Schwartz at Hull & probably just a cameo against Accrington. Nothing changes.

But that's not the club's fault the transfer window doesn't open until January 4th.

Even you can't blame Bowyer for that!

You have to assume TS & his lawyers have already looked into this but still a bit worrying.

Schwarz just needs to sign his contract with the club and be 'resident' here before midnight tonight, 31st December.
That's his job offer.

That's not the same as being registered to play, which can't be done before January 4th.

People may be wondering how much Paul Smyth is costing us, under the wage cap, etc.

Stumbled on this from the SLP, and Steve Gallen is reported saying:

Levitt seems so far down the pecking order, is it right to keep him?

I just hope that the other player coming in is a CB, or we're in the doo-doo.

I would love to see us have a punt at MK Dons' Scott Fraser, hands down the best player we've come up against so far this season. I suspect out of budget though.
