Blimey, Celtic just don't give up, do they? And their arrogance, assuming that he's going to be their player, just because they've got this obsession with him in their local press.0 -
If the 2021 Charlton calender is anything to go by though then Doughty won't be signing that contract...5

It makes sense not to include him, if there's a doubt he'll be gone in January.MattF said:If the 2021 Charlton calender is anything to go by though then Doughty won't be signing that contract...0 -

Is he looking through the round, the square or the transfer window though?MattF said:

I really hope he signs a new contract and stays of course
But it would be really funny if we sold him to Rangers in January

I remember the calendar with Lookman and he was gone the literally before I got it on the wall.Covered End said:

I see that Sandgaard is looking to improve the midfield and offence in January... Bowyer will be delighted with the formerMattF said:0 -
Thomas ... it’s English not American football ... strikers not offenceForeverAddickted said:

He's bringing back Roger Johnson, he was certainly offensive!ForeverAddickted said:

If player's fancy leaving us during this current TS era, then I'm happy to see them out.6

Be surprised if we improve in midfield, unless someone like Williams or JFC leaves. I hope Alfie commits, maybe offer him a deal with a release clause if we don’t go up this season?0
-
Offering Doughty a better contract is probably all the more attractive seeing as any replacement would be an issue with the cap. Not saying that is the main reason, But might be an incentive to offer a little more.2
-
He’s obviously decided to not sign it yet otherwise this story wouldn’t have been leaked.5

I hope Alfie stays, but I fear his agent will be in his ear telling him how much Celtic can pay him compared with Charlton, after all agents will usually be looking at what they can earn, rather than what is best for the players at this stage of his career.1

Celtic will want to see whether he has the searing pace still which makes him special before investing in him surely.thickandthin63 said:I hope Alfie stays, but I fear his agent will be in his ear telling him how much Celtic can pay him compared with Charlton, after all agents will usually be looking at what they can earn, rather than what is best for the players at this stage of his career.
I hope, despite his alleged Millwall allegiance, that he has parents or extended family sensible enough to advise him to sign. If that pace is significantly diminished he becomes an ordinary player.0 -
A true work of art.oohaahmortimer said:I had my Achilles operation at Princess Grace with Mr Bacarese Hamilton 6-7 years ago , knew the anaesthetist so got some photos , superb job and I got recommended Gazza’s old physio and he had magic hands and I made a full recovery .
Good luck Alfie

Offering him a contract is just standard practice isn't it?
He's under the age of 24, so by offering him a new contract we'd be entitled to compensation if he rejects it and signs for another club (obviously depending on whether that club is English)

Does the contract amount offered affect the compensation?Chris_from_Sidcup said:Offering him a contract is just standard practice isn't it?

Doesn’t he have the same agent as Philips or was it Aribo?0

Part of the same agency as Phillips, Purrington and Forster-Caskeydajavouslagan said:Doesn’t he have the same agent as Philips or was it Aribo?0 -
Just has to be an improved contract than the one he's already on ..... then we get the full U24 entitlement.Dazzler21 said:

Unless he goes to Scotland, where we receiver a lesser compensation.
The compensation fee is not a standard amount ..... it may work on a percentage paid of his market valuation, as if he had signed his existing club's improved contract.
Steve Gallen will know.

Not really as can sense from the complete silence that he'll be leaving. Would love him to stay but for now, I'll stick to my negative angle on this subject.Dazzler21 said:
Weird angle given the general positivity especially when we're talking a proper academy product who is looking a bright option for the future.mendonca said:If player's fancy leaving us during this current TS era, then I'm happy to see them out.

I'm not going to lose hope he'll sign til we actually get some solid rumours that aren't Celtic.1
