Apparently Paul Elliott our old player (criticised recently on a different matter) is the only black person on the FA board, but he isn't allowed to vote!

Who are the arbiters of acceptable language in these matters? We have moved from 'coloured' to 'black' to 'people of colour' and it seems to me that these arbitrary changes take place to shape the debate and 'cancel' those who use the wrong terminology at the wrong time.
Clark is an old bloke and probably genuinely doesn't know which term is 'flavour of the month' at the moment. On that note I have seen people being interviewed on TV referring to 'black' and 'brown' people is that wrong? I don't know and I doubt if many people, including Greg Clark perhaps, do either.
I have no idea what Clark's abilities are or are not as an administrator in his role at the FA but chastisement for incorrect use of terminology that constantly changes looks like an excuse to get rid to me.
Coloured has a history of connotations with things like Jim Crow or SA's apartheid regime. People of colour - while semantically very similar - is a term that was coined by people who aren't white.

It's understandable to find the nuances in what is or isn't acceptable confusing. But in a senior position it is your job to know these things. And if anyone, anyone, in 202 thinks that being gay is a 'lifestyle choice' then we have a long way to go.10

I think most people would probably agree that hes fucking stupid rather than definitly a racist, sexist, homophobe.
But the point is that as chairman of the FA the expectations of him are rightly much higher than some bloke in the street of his generation.
One thing did strike me. If this is the type of language he uses when in front of MPs and journalists and knowing that whatever he says is likely to be reported then wtf does he say in private?!

I remember back in the late 70's / early 80's that we were told that we couldn't use the word black & we had to say coloured. I think you’ve completely misunderstood what HI was saying. Some people may try and use his age as an excuse, suggesting that someone of that age may be out of touch or stuck in a different era. That’s not what HI said, nor was suggesting, in fact quite the opposite that you cannot use age as an excuse, because it simply isn’t one. There was no ageism in that post at all.
