That's the first time he's looked up to speed and like his old self.2

Another nice goal and win bonus for Lyle.0

He missed 2/13 for for us. Pretty respectable. His misses came before changing his run up, he scored two before then so only had a 50% conversion rate, his new style is definitely the most effective I've seenguinnessaddick said:

Same here. It reminded me of how his pace, good anger and will to win/be the man/bla bla could dominate one whole third of the pitch.Dazzler21 said:

hate to say it as I despise him for how he left, but he's a cracking player when fit.

Absolutely, also worth mentioning he lead the line alone last night in a Robinson esque 4231. Anyone know where Grabban was? Injured or dropped?
I wonder how we'd got on with a 4-2-3-10 -

whatever you think of him, that pen last night in the 97th min (all circumstances taken into account) took some bollocks !
fair play6 -
I think whatever people think of him, you cant deny his penalties are quality and the slow build up adds to the tension but always seems to score.Elthamaddick said:whatever you think of him, that pen last night in the 97th min (all circumstances taken into account) took some bollocks !
fair play
Maitland Niles done it in a Carabao cup game recently and everyone was raving about his composure, it literally was Tayloresque. Hate him by all means but he knows how to take a pena1 -

He's guaranteed to miss one at some point with the run up. Probably in a crucial game0

Missing one penalty is one thing. But how the hell is Hahki Wells still taking them? His failed attempt at a panenka at the weekend means he's missed 6 of his last 7. How can you guarantee he will miss? even more so in a crucial game. Just guesswork really , you can give a player who has left and was a prick credit.BigRedEvil said:He's guaranteed to miss one at some point with the run up. Probably in a crucial game0 -

Everyone misses eventually. Jorginho was seen as one of the best takers in the Prem. He missed two recently and now he's off pens altogether. Taylor will eventually miss one, and with his run up it will likely look hilarious

True, but then how fit do you need to be to take a slow walk to the penalty spot to score a goal ?Dazzler21 said:

has he scored many goals not from the penalty spot since he came back from injury last season ? Would he have got as many goals in that time as Washington has scored for us so far this season in his 8 starts ? Or would he be playing a cameo role like Chuks is at the moment ?

Short memory? Of course if he was playing now he would outscore any of our strikers, there is no doubt there.letthegoodtimesroll said:

He has played 10 games, starting 4 , scored 2 goals. One Penalty i believe. Hard to compare with our lot, Washington has started well but LT is an out and out goalscorer.
LT was unreal for us on the pitch and good at penalties, if we had him we have a guaranteed 20 goals + this season, Washington might get 15-20 + we will have to wait and see.3 -
Rickie Lambert was the best penalty taker I've seen in terms of technique.
His philosophy was that you pick a side and imagine the keeper is going to dive the right way.
You hammer is so f*****g hard that if he does and manages to get a hand to it his hand's coming clean off his wrist!7 -
Glancing through this thread and saw this one.masicat said:Definitely not fancied by Hughton. As much as I don’t like him, what I’ve seen of him he’s looked lively. For Hughton to drop him so early on means he doesn’t fancy him at all. Bench warmer now with Bonne and Phillips. Happy days.

Yes he was unreal for us and good at penalties unfortunately he pissed off when we needed him most and shit on his own teammates.
He is scum of the highest order and I hope he fails miserably.

But your response was why his slow penalty works, it just does. Someone has already said its because he waits for the last split second and yet to miss this way.southamptonaddick said:

You asked has he scored any goals which are not penalties, i have confirmed he has.
You mentioned Washington scoring 5 goals, i confirmed i think put Lyle in the team this season and again he will outscore anyone.
I get the hate and do not disagree on that part, he is a c***. But still you cant dismiss his ability and proven facts above.
I couldn't care less if he fails or does well now, he is irrelevant. Odd when it sounds like im defending him when i am more just responding with facts which were asked. I would be more than happy for this thread to die and we dont become so obsessed with him.4 -
I think that the reason Taylor is so successful with penalties on this
slow walk up of his is because the keeper is disorientated by the walk
and seems somehow to have too much time to react, and probably does so
too early, leaving Taylor because of the lack of power generated by a run up
just passing the ball into the net.0 -
I got lol’d last time I said Taylor will get 15 goals this season. He will!
Just because he left us the way he did, doesn’t make him a bad player! It makes him an arsehole, two different things.11 -
