So we lost Gallagher because of the transfer embargo

Because that came into effect we couldn't pay his wages and Swansea came in and offered to do so with a bit extra
    Bowyer hasn't got a clue.
It was because of his agent-

  • Surprised that Burnley didnt show interest what with "apparently" wanting him in January

Well at least he'll be well travelled...
  • Obviously be good for him to play Premier league games, but playing in a side who are likely to get stuffed most weeks isn't the best for an up and coming young player.

Almost the same reason Chelsea gave for taking him back.

He got valuable experience in that sense..
  • The sad thing is he will likely never play for Chelsea, just kept in their player farm going out on loan season after season. His progression will stall if he can't settle somewhere

Or he will do well at wba and be a part of Chelsea’s plans next year, similar to mount, James and abrahams after loans

He would have done a better job than loftus cheek in the game last night (by miles).

Would they have made it into the Chelsea first team if it wasn't for the transfer embargo?

West Brom were hopeless against Leicester, could be a tough slog for him and he could play a huge part in keeping them up, he could be their Grealish, he certainly isn't lacking ability

Unless he performs incredibly well he won't get a look in at Chelsea.

Abraham has already been shifted out by Werner and although Mount played last night, i'm not sure he'll play much when Ziyech and Pulisic are fit.

Gallagher may do well enough to be a squad player there, but when your club can go and spend 50m+ on a player for any position you need to be world class to play.

Have to agree. He's not getting near the new Chelsea. They'll sell him for 15+ million to another prem side at the end of the season. That's what they do.

Didn’t they play because Lampard couldn’t sign any new players?

I’m not denying they have talent, but doubt they’d have played such an integral part last season if it wasn’t for the embargo situation.

Young players don't need it easy. Anyway, with Gallagher in midfield, WBA might not get stuffed most weeks. Once he gets up to speed, he will be a big asset for them.

West Brom is a good move for him. Tbh the boy has talent, anywhere he goes he'll do well

No, Lampard is definitely committed to bringing through youth players, it's one of the reasons Chelsea chose him as manager. The embargo definitely helped, but they've spent £200m this year and yesterday they still started with James, Mount, Christensen (joined age 15) and Loftus-Cheek, with Hudson-Odoi coming on and Abraham on the bench. Mount and Tomori both played for Lampard at Derby and he's shown a lot of faith in the young players and often started them ahead of more experienced players who were in the squad pre-embargo.

Of the young players you've mentioned i'm not sure any start when Lampard has a fully fit squad.

Azpilicueta will play instead of James.
Thiago Silva will come in at centre back.
Mount and Loftus-Cheek will be probably be out when Ziyech and Pulisic are fit.

Think they'll play: New keeper, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Thiago Silva, Chilwell, Jorginho, Kante, Ziyech, Havertz, Pulisic, Werner.

Some line up that is - a young, elite CB and they should be challenging for the title

Upamecano would be a decent signing for them, doubt RB Leipzig will let them sign him as well as Werner though

Upamecano would be good for anyone!

I think mount could retain his place.

Joining West Brom on a season loan. He’ll get called back in mid January and sent to mid table fodder.

Proves that both the academy and the recruitment teams are doing all the right things. Hopefully the next generation will be playing Premier League football at the Valley instead of having to go elsewhere.

Very impressive to have that many connections in one Premier League game.
