Ronald Koeman

The Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman is in hospital in Amsterdam after being admitted with "chest complaints".

The former Southampton and Everton boss, 57, has undergone "successful cardiac catheterisation", said his management company. Koeman, who made 192 appearances for Barcelona during his playing career, is expected to leave hospital on Monday. "Ronald will need a few days' rest, hopefully it will be respected by you," said a statement.

During cardiac catheterisation, a catheter is inserted into a blood vessel and passed up to the heart and coronary arteries. Koeman, who scored 14 goals in 78 appearances for the Netherlands, became his country's head coach in 2018.

Unbelievable moment. Still not sure it matters too much in the scheme of things though. Hope he makes a full recovery.

I think it was outside the box. Should have been sent off though

The thing that compounded it was he stayed on and scored.

Hope he makes a full recovery.

Yep. Truly great footballer. Once saw him play for Barcelona. Was dominant. Get well soon.

239 goals in 685 club appearances for a guy who played predominantly as a centre back or sweeper is simply phenomenal.

He once scored 26 in a season for PSV!

Hopefully he'll make a full recovery. A small consolation for him is that the C19 lockdown is well timed for him (in football terms) as he has a long period to get better, as otherwise the Euros would have been in a few weeks time

Ronald said this poor decision was down to the ref, and apologised years ago.

Never seen that before. Not Koeman's fault the ref didn't send him off. Any other England player would have done the same and quite right too

I was there that night, to say I was gutted at the end of the game is an understatement.

Not a bad place to be though to erase it from your memory very quickly.

We went straight back after the game mate :(

When we arrived at the ground they were serving beer but soon realised it was alcohol free. Luckily met up with mates who were staying in Amsterdam and had some of the city's finest products on them which numbed the pain a bit.

Watched it in an Orlando bar - went for a Wimbledon fan who said it's only game when I was extremely upset, and drunk, afterwards...

I remember Brian Moore's commentary, he's going to flick one now".
Wasn't the free kick taken twice?

we heard this game on the radio on the coach coming back from Brescia .What made matters worst was we had to wait for all england fans to clear ferry port before we could board a ferry back home.
