World XI challenge...

Seen this going around twitter. Thought it would keep some of us busy.

Pick your world XI past or present but no two players can have played for the same club or country.

Leaving out Cristiano or Best will be tough!

So difficult because at least 2/3 will have to be world class players who didn’t play for a top club. Someone like Pele fits that but then no other Brazilians.

    Yashin,
    Lahm, Moore
    Gullit, Valderrama
    Messi, Pele, Ronaldo

    I'm stuck!

    EDIT:

    Yashin
Lahm, Moore, Baresi, Van Dijk, Capdevila
    Valderrama, Kante
    Messi, Pele, Ronaldo

    That's my attempt so far!

I’ve had a few attempts but it starts getting stupid when you get to 8 or 9 players.

Inter Milan have been a pain in the arse.

                         Yashin
    Suurbier - Moore - Beckenbaeur - Maldini
      Dalglish - Zidane - Laudrup(M) - Best
                  Pele - Maradona

Probably doubling in clubs there - it was hard enough picking 11 nationalities!!

Think mine would look something like this:

    Cech
    Lahm, Van Dijk, Ramos, Maldini
    Keane, Zidane, Gerrard
    Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldo

    or Schmeichel for Cech!

    Cech
    Thuram Cannavaro Vidic Lahm
    Xavi Keane Sneijder
    Messi Ronaldo Ronaldo

    Maybe Iniesta for Xavi?
  • Didnt Ronaldo and Ronaldo play for real Madrid?!
  • My bad, saw you have changed the spec!

Good calls forgot about Vidic especially. Still think I would go Gerrard over Sneijder easily.

I'm late but will post anyway as no one picked Jorge Costa.

    Lloris
    Zanetti, Costa, Baresi, Lahm
    Nedved, Scholes, Dunga, Bale
    Totti, Suarez

    Zanetti, Jorge Costa, Koulibaly, Lahm
    Nedved, Hierro, Dunga, Giggs
    Totti, Suarez

Tricky with one from each country.

                           Buffon
    Alves.   Beckenbauer V Dijt. Alba
    Best.   Zidane  Charlton Ronaldo
                 Messi   Puskas

Difficult cos would they gel together?  Doubt anyone will pick a water carrier.

Buffon, C Ronaldo and Zidane clash there. Also Alves and Messi, Best and Charlton, plus Ronaldo (sorry).

One club men and South Americans were my go-tos.
  • I'm guessing the reason our crap keeper from Belgium is on some people's lists is that he was actually a RB rather than a stopper?

    Danny Alves and Messi!

Both from South America, one Brazil, the other Argentina. Problem?  Not good enough?
