    Anyone remember Red Rock cider, lethal stuff. Think the advertising was, it's not red and there are no rocks in it!

    Full sugar original lucazade. Since they changed it for the sugar tax a few years back it's rank.

    Pepsi launched Crystal Pepsi in the USA which was Pepsi but clear like lemonade. They cornered the market with this stuff. Coca Cola decided to follow, but rather than try to beat Pepsi, they went with a strategy to take Crystal Pepsi down - and it worked. 

    The plan was to launch their own clear cola, but they intentionally fudged the release. They made it totally unclear as to whether it was supposed to taste the same as Coke, and whether or not it was a diet drink (for 30+ years Tab was a diet version of Coke, but was largely replaced by Diet Coke in the early 80s). 
      
     This ‘kamikaze marketing’ plan made the whole clear cola landscape a confusing mess, and sales of Tab and Crystal Pepsi plummeted until both were withdrawn from the market!

    Drank far too many Caffreys one night in the Falcon at Clapham Junction. This was before it went on general sale in the weaker form. Very sore head in the morning.

    Anyway, early evening, thought I'd go next door to the hotel to find a burger and a pint, ended up being an Irish bar in full swing, ceilidh band, dancing and on the tables, the lot.  Got chatting to some Irish blokes and bought a Caffreys, and that was it, another Caffreys please.... My mates arrived at about 3am to find me absolutely plastered on the stuff, practically falling in front of their coach, spewing everywhere.

    Don't think I've ever drunk it since!

    Reading your comment reminded me of the lady who used to wash the glassware in the lab at Guy's and always mispronounced the Greek name of one of the doctors and used to call him Dr Panyan.

    I know that all the supermarkets in France sell it but I know that's no help. I'm surprised that it is not the same in England. Is Carte d'Or ice cream not available?

    It is available but not in the elusive flavour.

    Next time in France maybe.
