Cheers mate, it was tough being separated from them and having so isolate alone for so long, but knowing it was keeping them safe kept me going!Carter said:

Feels mental though, having got through it here, yet know it's so much worse back home and I'm still worrying about my family and friends in London.6 -
...but on the other hand, everyone is safe and well and, when this is all over, the business can pick up again.Mendonca In Asdas said:Our business is shutting the doors at 5:30pm today, sad times.

Mrs went into Sainsburys at Newhaven this afternoon to pick up some supplies and was given this bunch of flowers by one of their employees to "Brighten up her day". Nice touch -

First bit of good news: When I went to open this thread there were 69 unread comments. Nice.5

Second bit of good news, I'm genuinely impressed and heartened by how large institutions in this country have just pivoted on a dime toward doing everything that needs to be done to combat the virus and adjust to our "new normal." I work for the VA, Department of Veterans Affairs, and we were told today "stop anything that you're doing that doesn't provide value" and "Liability is not as big of a concern as helping people and saving lives." And for such a large, conservative (small "c") organization, that's huge. They've just dropped everything and are preparing to turn all extra space into ICU as they anticipate having to treat members of the public (usually the VA only treats active duty Military and Veterans, with some small exceptions). And the approach just seems to be "Fuck it, let's do it."
And that's been the case across the board from what I've seen. Obviously, people are struggling, and the economic impact of this will be felt for years. However, in this moment, there seems to be a shared sense of understanding that no one knows what's going to happen. And people seem to come together and find ways of making things work.
I really hope that that happens in Britain as well as you go into lockdown orders or whatever it is. Sending you all lots of love.16 -

Currently working on group cash flow forecasts for the next few months. Nobody knows how bad things will get, so we are taking flyers on all kinds of scenarios. The word I have just invented for predicting bad news without any real knowledge is "Guessimism". Even google cant find it. I am stupidly pleased with myself.
Little pleasures, eh.

Loads of the kids in my road have drawn pictures of rainbows and stuck them in the windows of various houses. Not sure why or how it started but nice.8

I like it, it can be used to describe our first team. Head down and kick the ball aimlessly into a space where you hope to find a team mate but generally an opposition player = guessimismIdleHans said:Currently working on group cash flow forecasts for the new few months.
