I wonder if CEE refers to Central & Eastern Europe - climbers - states growing after communism - tentative!Ah yes, I hadnt spotted that.I think that is too obscure. Chambers Dictionary is the crossword setter's bible and it doesnt have CEE as an abbreviation, only cee as in the letter C.0 -
had another go yesterday, got several, cheated for most, some I get the full meaning but still can't parse:
i) Fashion icon briefly hugged by top fop - PEACOCK
ii) Bread covered by another lid, not quite screwed onto hash dish - LANCASHIRE HOTPOT
iii) Intimate element going in earlier - case dismissed - ONE ON ONE - O (NEON) ONE - I suspect going in earlier is "S-OONE-R" and "SR" means case somehow?
any guidance appreciated :-)0 -
I) Fashion icon = Coco (Chanel), briefly means you take off the last letter. Peak = top.
ii) bread = cash, that's in an anagram of another li (lid, not quite = li). Pot = hash.
III) CASE just means the first and last letters of sooner.1 -
these clues are even harder than I expected, thanks @LawrieAbrahams

Can this one really be a reference to the Super Furry Animals?
Woody perhaps the one she loves? ... Woody Herman (musician), Hermann Loves Pauline (SFA song)0 -
This is from Saturday.i) The Wake from Fenland was Hereward the Wake.ii) counter = summer (one who sums)iii) No - the one she loves = her man1

That would work, too, but the answer at the time was PRICK UP YOUR EARS, as in the title of the film.LawrieAbrahams said:

Ears being an anagram, as intended by John Lahr who wrote the autobiography of Joe Orton, later made into a film.AddicksAddict said:
