Very sad for the lad, fingers crossed it isn't as bad as first diagnosed.
Jordan Rhodes is the stand by striker0 -
Apparently it is thankfully somewhat of a minor case if Sky's source can be trusted.
Hope that's true and he makes a speedy recovery and keeps his Olympic place.0 -
Its viral meningitis which is less dangerous than the bacterial version. Still though quite unpleasant to have I would imagine hope he gets well soon.0
-
What I meant to say was unlucky not to go to the World Cup. Thankfully it is the viral type. Still not nice.0

Third time lucky, Euros?1

Third time lucky, Euros?
Bless him, it's been a long hard summer...................0 -
Excellent footballer, saw a profile about him and his uncle.
Has the right sort of attitude, and ability. Two seasons ago he kept Bolton up with his goals, while on loan.
Anywhere else apart from Chelsea he would start most weeks.
Wish him well.0 -
Third time lucky, Euros?
We got there in the end :-)

worth a 6 year bump?
Sturridge has been charged by the FA for breaching betting rules
Full details not confirmed but part of the investigation is around his loan to WBA
"At the time Inter Milan had been the favourites to sign him until the end of the season, but in the space of 24 hours Paddy Power slashed the odds on him going to West Brom from 66/1 to 5/2.
The following day Sturridge completed his move to struggling West Brom for a loan fee of £2million after snubbing interest from Newcastle United."

Wonder if he'll get a similar ban now compared to what Joey Barton got
Although I guess it depends on the seriousness of the actions when you compare what both have done0 - Sponsored links:

Barton's case involved systematic betting and this seems more 'lower end of the scale'. The indication about one element of the Sturridge case is that it involves knowledge not in the public domain from January 2018. That for example and this is mere speculation and not an accusation could include telling someone that he was about to join West Brom on loan before there was even a suggestion in the press that this might happen which for a striker of his calibre would've changed the odds on them staying up. Ironic that he got injured in his first game and didn't play again1

seems similar to the GK coach that told his mates he'd eat a pie, what was his punishment?0
-
That’s what I assumed it was - telling his mate to lump on ‘Sturridge to WB’ at 16/1 before it was made public. Which if the case you could argue is worse than Barton’s thousands of random bets.JohnnyJoeyDeeDee said:Barton's case involved systematic betting and this seems more 'lower end of the scale'. A diet3 -
He only plays about 5 games a season anyway. They might as well ban him for life.ForeverAddickted said:Wonder if he'll get a similar ban now compared to what Joey Barton got

If it is true that Sturridge tipped off a mate about the move in order that a bet could be laid - and that he KNEW a bet was going to be laid - then he should be in serious trouble.
However, that being said, I don't have a lot of sympathy for the bookies anyway, they should not be opening up markets on things like transfers which are so easy to manipulate.4 -
Is sounding more like that Sutton United Goalkeeper who deliberately ate a pie on TV rather than Joey Barton0

Looks like hes off to Turkey, agreed a 3 year deal with Trabzonspor0

Isn't he injured yet?0
-
Has now left Trabzonspor after 6 months by mutual consent. He scored 7 goals in 13 appearances.
If ever there was someone who has failed to reach the heights he might have done it's him - at the age of 30 he has scored 122 goals in just 193 starts over 14 years.
Wonder whether anyone here will take a chance with him albeit on a short term contract basis
Edit FA have just increased his ban for betting activities to 4 months so he can't play this season anyway!!!0 -
mentioned this in the MLS thread earlier, could see him going there.

well its all going on...
he's suing his ex landlord when he was staying at a mansion whilst playing at Liverpool. One of the kids of the landlord had a netflix account with the N word as its username.
he's trying to get 100 grand through damages.
It all seems to stem from sturridge being ordered by court having to pay unpaid rent by the looks of it. after which he got the original betting charge. then he sues his landlord for the above netflix thing and now he finds out his banned for the rest of the season.

His injury record would make him a good fit at Charlton once available....2
