RIP Rob Rensenbrink.  Loved watching him and the Holland team during the 1978 World Cup in Argentina.

A Dutchman who played most of his club football in Belgium. Arguably Anderlecht's finest ever player.

Quality player from one of the best sides to have not won the World Cup.

Yep. On that theme, a game between the 74 Dutch team and the 82 Brazil team would've been good.

The great Dutch side that I fell in love with when England failed to qualify for the first two world cups I remember. RIP Robbie.

R I P .. it seems that quite a few ex sportspeople who played Rugby, American Football and Football are suffering/have suffered from MND or early onset dementia .. there is a long suspected  co-relation between these awful afflictions and heading the ball or taking repeated bangs to the head.
  • Hit the post in the 78 final when it was 1-1, I remember.

  • That team is the reason I became a football fan and thanks to my Dad, then a Charlton fan. They were in my mind the best ever. Very sad. Rensenbrink was a great player and he almost won the 1978 World Cup. RIP
