Good chance Morelos will go in the summer. I know its not like for like but Taylor would do well in the SPL and to be fair, would probably enjoy the fiery old firm!cs1986 said:I have seen Rangers mentioned loads on here but that would be a strange one for me. Yeah saw Newcastle are after him but can't see it happening.CAFCsayer said:cs1986 said:I have seen Rangers mentioned loads on here but that would be a strange one for me. Rumoured to be off to the prem0 -
Couldn't disagree more. Not been impressed whenever I've watched Morelos and despite his goals, he sometimes looks like a liability.cs1986 said:I have seen Rangers mentioned loads on here but that would be a strange one for me. I have no doubt that Lyle would score bundles if leading the Rangers front line (not that I'd like him to leave).

Tend to agree, admittedly I've not seen much of Morelos but whenever I have I've not been massively impressed. Taylor would get between 20-30 in the SPL + a good number of assists like he did for us last year.superclive98 said:

if in this league i would think about Leeds. they only have one striker at the moment so must be desperate to bring someone in to lead the line.0

He said people are adding 00's because of who they think is involved in backing us. I think that statement had everything to do with what other clubs think, and nothing to do with anything else.Scoham said:Redhenry said:Another player wanted to sign for us on loan for a small wage but we offered lower. We’ll have some idea if/when we sign players permanently.
Matt Southall talked about 0s being added and us now being able to sign Green, who we couldn’t afford in the summer.
People seem dying to hang on to this idea that we really do have money, and it seems clear as day that we either don't, or aren't spending it.3 -
At our last home game I heard Lyle was offered less money than Roland offered but the difference was he was only offered one year by Dutchalet compared to two and a half years by our new owners1
-
If he goes Rangers it will be in the summer for free (unless we are willing to accept £250-£500k).
Despite the size of the club, Rangers don’t have money to throw around and will not waste it on a player they can get for free in the summer, they will also want to get someone out the door first to free up wages.0 -
I have heard a story that may be about the same player (whose identity I wasn't told) but with a crucial difference. This didn't involve a loan though, but a perm. Story I heard was we offered what he was worth to Charlton, he/his agent wanted 20% more and we told them to shove it, so he signed for a L1 side for 30% less than we had offered. If that is true, then as far as I'm concerned that's decent, firm recruitment policy.Redhenry said:Another player wanted to sign for us on loan for a small wage but we offered lower. Just a story, but I tend to believe it. Could be a different player too of course. But in this story, it is clear that we got the player's value right, because he ended up accepting a lesser club, for a lesser salary. I've had that happen in the management recruitment game too.27 -
Lyle is an joy to watch on the pitch. We are or have been very lucky that he signed for us instead of the Black Cats. I just wish he would stay and play an integral part of our club’s resurrection. He is after all, one of the key players that started the feel good factor returning to The Valley. Lyle please stay and become a Charlton legend. This is something money can’t buy.8

He got 20ish in league 1 last year no way he gets 30 in SPL. How good was our midfield last year.covered_end_junior said:

Yeah I said between 20-30, not that he would get 30. He got 21 for us, no reason he couldn't do that for Rangers.cs1986 said:

Can someone please add me to the WhatsApp group where all these "I heard " is coming from. Ta.

As I am so not ITK, more NFC (the N is for no and the C for clue10 -
I’m not one of those convinced the Sheikh is involved and we’re going to spend millions on big name signings, but it looks like we’re trying to make permanent signings and those are unlikely to cost nothing. We want to bring them in as cheaply as possible, even more so if the budget for fees is fairly minimal.Chunes said:

Hope i'm wrong but doubt it.We will be spending money this window mate but maybe not what people are anticipating this is the wrong window to splash cash in that way
this window should be about reinforcing and allowing recovery of players and potentially only spending what we get or anticipate getting for taylor on a signing
The summer window is when people should gauge
if I was advising ESI it would be to show restraint consideration and go for 6 decent players that will allow the injured to return
o would not be spending 10-15 mil total over this period on anyone15 -
I think we're deliberately putting out low bids and offers as a way of throwing off clubs as to what we actually have to spend.cafcfan1990 said:

We'll pay for the right players that we want, and if we don't we will be relegated...2 -
You're absolutely right, with our midfield in the SPL too he'd have got 50.cs1986 said:

FFS offer Lyle a bit more and get him signed up he is our main hope of keeping in championship,if these new owners mean business lyle along with the manager and staff should of been signed up by now, this was a priority for me,Im disappointed this hasnt happened1

I was just watching the video sky bet did of "Bowyer's Revolution."
In it LB talks about how Lyle Taylor was the most important player for the squad, and for him the best striker in the league.

It seems to be that he's being offered a huge up front signing fee coupled with a modest championship striker salary plus bonuses (if you blend all rumours)bertpalmer said:FFS offer Lyle a bit more and get him signed up he is our main hope of keeping in championship,if these new owners mean business lyle along with the manager and staff should of been signed up by now, this was a priority for me,Im disappointed this hasnt happened
I'd say it now sounds like our Lyle's head is turned.3 -
You are absolutely right . I don’t think it matters what we offer / offered him he’s wanted out for a while . Personally I think the quicker we can off load him the better . I’m fed up of his neediness.Dazzler21 said:

I don’t think we can operate like that In the current situation. If we offer Taylor a bit more and he turns that down, do we offer him a bit more again? Matt Southall spoke about sustainability. Not sure it’s prudent to keep making players offers when we know he has turned down a good offer already - the maximum we want to go to.bertpalmer said:FFS offer Lyle a bit more and get him signed up he is our main hope of keeping in championship,if these new owners mean business lyle along with the manager and staff should of been signed up by now, this was a priority for me,Im disappointed this hasnt happenedIn the grand scheme of things, we are currently a struggling Championship side with crowds of circa 17k. We could quite easily go down and have a 30 year old striker on 18k+ a week on our hands. Sunderland did that and look where they are now. It’s taken them a couple of years to clear out players on mega contracts - this is a team that get gates of 40k.Taylor is doing what he should be doing - trying to get as much money as he can at the back end of his career. Say we did give him what he wanted - then what? - Players knocking at the door asking for more money. The owners can’t be seen to be rolling over and having there belly tickled.I want Taylor to stay - he’s our main goal scorer and talisman....So were Hales, Bent, Mendonca, Hunt, Kermorgant etc, etc. They moved on and we moved on. Taylor will move on and somebody else will come in and be the main man.The offer made to Taylor is off the table now and I actually quite like the fact that Southall had the balls to withdraw the offer and not be held to ransom.51 -
I'm going to wait until the end of January.
Weve been told by the owners that a couple of things have been put on hold so they can get efl approval to be in for January.
So I dont believe in that case not much is going to happen in January.
Theve withdrawn the offer to Taylor with no back up plan if he leaves in January, I find it hard to believe.

Charlton wouldn't be in the Championship without Lyle Taylor.
Equally Lyle Taylor would unlikely be in the Championship without Lee Bowyer25 -

fair points made but think offer should at least stay on table until replaced by our new main man,in my opinion we wont be able to replace him,a player like Lyle was a long time coming and I will be gutted to see him go and I expect LB will be as wellricky_otto said:
