£75 return then is an absolute joke when it takes four hours. The 19.22 would miss a lot of last trains back into Kent.

It'd be a new ground for me but based on that BS I'd rather go to Derby a few days earlier.

    Not with your legs.

For the 1-1 game in 2008 we were locked in afterwards.

Last time I went to Swansea the police kept us in the pub next to the station, then took us by coach to the stadium.
After they took us back to the station and literally forced us on the first train out, even though many weren't booked on that train or any train at all.

It's local for our Welsh Players  :)

Agreed, a ridiculous game for NYD, we're travelling to Swansea while on the same day Cardiff are travelling to QPR...

They wouldn’t sell beer on the train to any Charlton fans until it got back into England.
They wouldn’t let you off the train at Cardiff either to get some beers.

You are at the back of a very long queue.
  • For those who want book or rebook advance tickets for the match on 2/1/20,this will involve an overnight stay in Swansea.
Advance singles £25.00 [£16.50] on most trains until Depart Paddington 14.48 arrive Swansea 17.39.
For the return journey the above fares available on most trains.
    Railcard fares in brackets.
  • Some if not all train companies allow you to change your tickets for another day, but the standard charge for doing so is £10 per journey (ie £20 return).
  • Some if not all train companies allow you to change your tickets for another day, but the standard charge for doing so is £10 per journey (ie £20 return).
Don’t see why rail companies can’t do a football train ticket where you pay say a quid extra insurance to be able to change in the event a game is changed.

The extra quid per journey made over a season with games not changed would cover any hassle/admin costs.
  • Some if not all train companies allow you to change your tickets for another day, but the standard charge for doing so is £10 per journey (ie £20 return).

Changing the time or date of travel

    • Changes to time or date of travel must be arranged before departure of the first reserved train printed on the ticket, after which the ticket has no value and a new one must be purchased. You will need to present the ticket(s) and reservation(s) when you request a change.
    • Changes to tickets cannot be made on-board the train. If you board a train without a ticket and reservation for that service, a new ticket must be purchased. Depending on the Train Company you are travelling with, you may be liable to a Penalty Fare if you board the train with an invalid ticket.
    • The origin, destination and Train Company or route shown on the ticket(s) must remain the same.
    • The difference between the price paid and cost of the next suitable fare for your journey is payable, plus an administration fee of up to £10 per person, per single ticket for each change to a journey. If you change to a train on which a cheaper fare is available, the difference will not be refunded.

    Refunds

    • Your ticket is non-refundable. However, if the train you purchased a ticket for is cancelled or delayed and as a result you decide not to travel a refund will be offered on completely unused tickets and you will not be charged an administration fee.
    • Whilst there are no refunds on Advance tickets in most cases you can change your journey prior to travel (up to departure) for a £10 fee plus any difference in the fare payable. However, please note that if you choose (where offered) to print your tickets at home or download them to your mobile device, different rules apply and you may not be able to subsequently change your ticket. The relevant conditions will be made clear when buying your ticket.
    • There may be rare occasions where the cheaper Advance fare becomes available closer to the time of travel, for example if a group booking is cancelled and extra seats become available. Please note that in these circumstances Advance tickets that have already been bought cannot be refunded in part or in full.

    • If the train you purchased a ticket for is cancelled or is delayed and you still decide to travel, special arrangements will be made to accommodate you on another train (although a seat cannot be guaranteed).

  • Our group's plans are in total chaos with both the Derby & Swansea matches being re-arranged.

We would have driven to & from Derby, then planned to drive to Swansea on NYE, stay overnight in the HIE ( booked already) then drive home after the match.

Accommodation is no transfer/refund available at £50 per room.

Still mulling over what's best for us all to do.
