Your favourite bass line in a piece of music

Ask any guitarist, pianist or drummer worth their salt and they’ll tell you they’re lost without their bassist. It drives the music, a song without a baseline is like a Ferrari without an engine ;-)Dave2l said:I think fleas amazing but certainly not what makes that band great.
I fail to really appreciate bass.
You need it but you don't really appreciate it or ever see it as the soul focus of a song.
For me, it will just always be something in the background.

I know of a Charlton Life member that to be fair to him, he is a really good bass player. I was impressed.
My opinion regarding this might not be so valid, as I am not a bass player myself.

Yep, sorry Dave. If you want music to dance to, your bassline is what gives you your groove. There are loads of songs that I enjoy listening to because they have clever lyrics or great melodies, but I find that it's the ones with good basslines (even if they aren't that high up in the mix) that will get me bouncing round in my seat.EastStand said:

I used to watch drum covers on YouTube and famous session drummers playing in studios, along to the famous tracks they originally played on, so I often get suggestions come up for other types of covers. This one came up a while back and I found it again this morning. Girls got talent and, what a bass line, Luther Vandross, Never Too Much

Fair doos.
I just enjoy flirting around with a bit of bass on my standard 6 string guitar.
I think your 100% right about what you say here....it's just something that I have a lack of appreciation for.
Which is not really the right attitude....but, it's where I'm at.0 -

Not really. It’s actually this by Cory Wong, which Salad will like if he’s into Dean Town. (Although it isn’t Joe Dart... the beast of a bassist is playing the bass STRUNG UPSIDE DOWN... shouldn’t even be legal.)
