    Phillips: 7 Solid
Lockyer: 8 So much better today than at Villa, very good on the ball.
    Pearce: 8.5 Proper warrior
Sarr: 4.5 Looked awful with the ball at his feet, good at playing 40 yard balls, but playing out of defence was poor. His thought for the first goal
Dijksteel: 6 Skinned to many times and poor header for their goal, but played well in spells
Purrington: 8 Proper Solid display and started and finished the move for the goal
Forster-Caskey: 5 Didn't get into the game at all
Pratley: 7.5 very good breaking up play and defensively sound
Lapslie: 6.5 Worked his nuts off but quality wasn't always there.
Williams: 7.5, When on the ball he was very good
Taylor: 7.5 Isolated for large chunks of the game, but when he did get on the ball up top he looked good
Gallagher:  7 Very impressed with his short cameo and unlucky not to score

Phillips: 7 solid enough and was commanding when coming for crosses in the box but Blackburn never really forced more than a routine save out of him

Lockyer: 7.5 whatever he lacks in stature, he makes up for in his reading of the game. He singlehandedly ended a 3v3 situation in that first half. Plenty more to come.
Pearce: 8.5 absolute leader at the back, what more can you say? Captain fantastic
Sarr: 5 unfortunately a liability. Dallied on the ball most times he had it, eventually resulting in the corner that gave Blackburn their equaliser.
Dijksteel: 8 showed why Boro/Bristol want him. Rovers main threat had to switch sides in the second half because AD gave him nothing.
Purrington: 8.5 MOM he’s so much more than just a solid full back. Bow has transformed his game. Expect half a dozen goals at the back post this year.

Forster-Caskey: 5.5 consistently bullied off the ball, he’s a pretty player but all his passes are telegraphed and he’s too easy to defend against
Pratley: 8 him and Pearce were instrumental in this result
Lapslie: 7 not the most technically gifted as we know, a typical Lapslie performance, never stopped running and is learning the niggly side too, taking a yellow for the team.
Williams: 7.5 shows his class with a good assist. Struggled to make an impression at first but when he played deeper, he ran the game for 15-20 minutes.

Taylor: 8 did some really good work with the little service he had. Fantastic bit of technique to flick the ball into the net for the winner.

Gallagher: 8 this kid is gonna be mustard, helped us get onto the front foot with good play and forced the corner for the winner.

Referee: 5 bang average for the most part. Made some odd decisions and was dreadful at pulling us up on our time wasting.

Special mention for Albie. He was excellent off the bench and carved them open on the break. JFC should really have converted the resulting 1v1.

  • At the game:

Phillips: 6- very little to do despite constant pressure, distribution poor, claimed well, unlucky with goal.

Lockyer: 8- very solid, lack protection from midfield at time but coped well overall perfect replacement for paddy.

Pearce: 8- same as Lockyer, solid and was afraid to put his foot in quality proformance.

Sarr: 5.5- struggled, seems to have a lack of communication with dil and 5 across the back doesn’t suit him.

Dijksteel: 7- done well with a lot of the ball coming down his side got beaten cheaply a few times but done the job.

Purrington: 8.5 MOTM- quality! His attacking play has come on massively, was strong at the back and kept Armstrong out the game. Personally his best performance in a Charlton shirt.

Forster-Caskey: 5- off the pace by a mile, away with the fairy’s most of the time just didn’t look the same standard as the rest and that’s saying something! Can only improve.

Pratley: 8- was the unit in the middle we needed! Kept Dack invisible and was a battering ram in the middle. Really come alive since the turn of the year!

Lapslie: 6.5- tried hard and covered a lot of ground, look out of his depth but his work rate didn’t go in noticed.

Williams: 6.5- worked hard in a game that’s not suited for his style. Tried to make something happen but unfortunately for him it didn’t.

Taylor: 7- did what he could in a game where he needed a strike partner, extra .5 for the goal.

Gallagher: 6.5- good touches and didn’t look out of place at all looks like he could be a tidy player for us.

Referee: 6.5- no big calls today so can’t say any wrongs apart from the 6 mins.

  • Phillips: 6.5 - very little to do. Distribution not great but commanded well. The goal was just unlucky.
Lockyer: 8 - very solid debut.
    Pearce: 8 - very solid
Sarr: 6 - had a shaky game. Not great in a back 3. Will learn quickly that he won’t bevgiven as much time on the ball
Dijksteel: 6.5 - Looked far too laid back at times. Improved a lot second half
Purrington: 7 - this lad will get better and better. Good goal. De ja vu
Forster-Caskey: 6 - first competitive start in over a year I believe and it showed slightly. He’ll get better!
Pratley: 7.5 - his experience is invaluable. I thought he done well. Kept a very good player in Dack quiet.
Lapslie: 8 - his work rate was second to none. Proper Charlton
Williams: 7 - you can just see the quality. Just hope he stays fit.
Taylor: 7 - struggled up top on his own but scored the winner. Will take that every week.
Gallagher: 7 - worked hard when he came on. Looked good.

Referee: 6 - sone odd decisions but better than most from last season!

Morgan: n/a 8 brilliant cameo! Looks so much more smarter in and out of possession than last season
    Oshilaja: n/a

i would have taken a draw at the start of the game. I definitely would have taken a draw when they scored the equaliser.

Our fans were brilliant... apart from the bellend who threw that banger. Hope he gets banned.

  • Phillips: 7 Not at fault for the goal, didn't have much to do really.
Lockyer:8 Really pleased with this performance after the boo boys lumped on him after the Villa game.
Pearce: 9 Outstanding leadership, assist for goal.
Sarr: 5 Wobbled a bit today, became flustered and clearances became hurried.
Dijksteel: 8 Better than Solly. Caused his winger to swop sides. Next step is to get forward in a back three
Purrington: 9 love Ben, played high up the pitch due to formation, scored a goal and didn't forsake his defensive duties.
Forster-Caskey: 7 Want him to succeed, looked off the pace first half, but grew into the game and a much better second half. Corner led to the goal, and nearly scored with THE reverse pass.
Pratley: 9 So calm and composed, led from the front, probably MOM. Throwing himself in front of shots.
Lapslie: 6 Worked hard and can't fault his application.
Williams: 7 Good assist, needs to link up with Lyle better in this formation
    Taylor: 8 Fantastic effort off the ball, supporting the defense, and shuttle running to put their back four under pressure. Good to see him get a goal;
Gallagher: 8 Early days but looks a prospect. Big unit for a 19y old

Referee: 4 Booked 3 of ours yet did nothing to their players for similar offences, a real homer

  • Phillips: 7 very unlucky with the own goal, otherwise assured

Lockyer: 7.5 solid game and was stronger in the air than maybe I expected

Pearce: 9 now I’ve had a few hours to digest it... what a man and leader he is. There was no chance of us losing today with Pearce on a mission like that. Huge performance

Sarr: 6 not his day unfortunately. We know he is excellent on the ball but he needs to release it quicker and make decisions, don’t hesitate Naby, trust your ability because you’re a good player

Dijksteel: 8 got beaten I think once which he then recovered with pace. Didn’t look distracted which is great. Hope he stays

Purrington: 8.5 great going forward and solid enough defensively. Scored the opener and we have ourselves a wing-back who is going to get into threatening positions this season. A big reason why Bowyer likes him

Forster-Caskey: 6.5 couldn’t impose himself on the game the way he would’ve wanted to. Should’ve scored at the end but it was a great performance for his first competitive start in 15 months

Pratley: 7.5 experience again was so key and blocked so many shots or passes. We know his limitations, but so does he and he is very effective at what he does for the team

Lapslie: 6 don’t actually feel as though he contributed enough. Done the job exactly as I was expecting and done it well to be fair, but he just isn’t on the same level as the rest of the team or this division right now. I hope we manage to bring in enough players and maybe George will do well out on loan

Williams: 8.5 when we couldn’t get a foothold, Jonny dropped into midfield more and made things calm down and let us play. He got at them well and created good chances, including the opener for Purrington. Looks very sharp as well

Taylor: 8.5 tough ask playing up front away from home in a league you’ve never played in before all on your own. But Lyle done a great job and could’ve actually got a hat-trick on another day. What a player he is

Gallagher: 7 the boy can play. Made things happen when he came on. Upped the tempo and was unlucky not to score. He’ll probably start next weekend

Referee: 5 average at best really. Was so eager to book Forster-Caskey, as soon as he went to make the challenge, the card was already coming out. Where did 6 minutes come from?!

Morgan: n/a classy on the ball. Needs to play regularly on loan and learn the defensive side as said before but would happily keep him around the squad

Oshilaja: n/a moved it nicely when he had to. Could be a useful player for us with his versatility
  • Phillips: 7 - did nothing wrong and wasn't really tested either
Lockyer: 7 - very solid, didn't notice him really which means he didn't make any errors and only a good thing for me as a centre back
Pearce: 9 MOM - or...as a defender you are the one who stands out winning everything as Pearce did. Absolute warrior, should start next week
Sarr: 5 - his error led to the corner from which Blackburn equalized, does not look at home with three centre backs playing
Dijksteel: 8 - can see why Boro want him. Undisputed first choice right back  / right wing back
Purrington: 8 - extra mark for the goal, a very solid performance
Forster-Caskey: 6 - not his usual self but very sure he'll improve, should have scored at the end to kill the game
Pratley: 7 - very solid, won lots of tackles and blocks
Lapslie: 7 - very solid, much like Pratley, probably needs to go out on loan though
Williams: 7 - the only player we have that could set up Purrington's goal the way he did, got fouled a few times, not the day for his creativity
Taylor: 7 - really did put a shift in up front on his own, was also tightly marked when he did get the ball as you'd expect as a lone striker, often had lack of service too from the midfield
Gallagher: 7 - very impressed when he came on, would probably start ahead of Lapslie or JFC

Referee: 7 - thought he got most things correct including our yellow cards, not sure where 6 mins of added time came from though

    At Ewood Park

Phillips: 7 - solid, but some of his long kicks were poor

Lockyer: 8 - very solid, very calm on the ball, gives me confidence he's one that's going to make the step up to the Championship

Pearce: 8 - much like Lockyer, very solid, calm on the ball and on top of that, a great leader

Sarr: 6 - I don't think his performance was as bad as some have suggested, but definitely didn't handle the pressing nearly as well as the other two CBs

Dijksteel: 7.5 - still gets beaten on the overlap more often than I'd like, but he was solid and has improved over the summer!

Purrington: 9 - excellent, great positioning for the goal and some really clever interceptions and tackles

Forster-Caskey: 6 - a bit lightweight but understandable in his first competitive game in a long while

Pratley: 8.5 - a player many saw as the weakest link before today. Very tidy stuff

Lapslie: 6.5 - the Championship requires a lot of energy and pressing. He wasn't particularly effective today but did both those things well, as per usual!

Williams: 7.5 - one of the few creative sparks we have, really need him to stay fit

Taylor: 7 - shut out for periods of the game, but was really effective when on the ball

Gallagher: 7.5 - really liked the look of him, creative player that gets in the right positions, and almost nicked himself a goal

  • Watched on stream:

Phillips 6 very little to do and unlucky OG
Lockyer 7 a solid defensive display, passing let him down a little, but all round solid debut
Pearce 9 MOM all day, very very impressed with his performance
Sarr 5 Capable of a lot more. Felt like watching a hangover from his play off final OG. He can be a beast, he is a beast, if he can calm himself, he will play and important role this season
Dijksteel 7 Solid defence display, limited going forward yesterday, but didn’t matter
Purrington 8 Great all round display and neat finish
Forster-Caskey 5 Ran around a lot, but little impact on the game. I hope he can step up a bit further, as I like him a lot and want him to do well at this level. Really should have tucked our third away towards the end.
Pratley 8 Belied his years and led by example in the midfield. Dack could have been a real thorn in our side, but for Darren subduing him most of the game.
Lapslie 6 a Meh performance, but worked hard off the ball and the more match time he gets, the more he will grow, I’m sure
Williams 7 Great assist, but wish he had the ball more, as he is a player you want to watch on the ball all day
Taylor 8 Worked so hard, deserved his goal and thought the chance he created for himself, when he shifted the ball to the left, before giving their keeper a lot of work to do, showed us how dangerous he will he for us, regardless of division

Sub: Gallagher 7 Flashes of what he could do to teams over 90 minutes and I am looking forward to seeing more.
