It would be chaos, almost the whole field would have reason to race, noone is going to break away by anything meaningful.  Doing it as a staggered start time trial would be an option but wouldn't make great TV, as as soon as the first 3 people finish its effectively over.

Looks like Bernal will now be team leader today

Geraint has tweeted saying that the aim today is to get Bernal to Paris in Yellow

Apart from if you believe you're going to ride away from everyone, it must be such a relief that your last day has reduced by half.  Alex Dowsett must be made up.

I wonder if that was actually the decision beforehand and yesterday's events just brought that to the fore.

They did the same last year, road for Froome but when Thomas could attack and Froome couldn't they were happy for G to go.  The only time I remember sky/ineos not doing this was when froome stopped and waited for wiggins on a climb.

Its a sensible tactic to be honest - I guess the likes of Movistar have done the same with Quintana and Landa

What gets me is this is another year that no one has an answer to SKY / Ineos

I say it every year but these teams need to do something to end their dominance else there will be no end to it - This isn't like Lance Armstrong / US Postal Service (Yeah I know they cheated in the end) but instead SKY / Ineos have now had four different winners over the last seven years and in Egal Bernal its not like they're letting other teams produce talent before offering big wages, they're spotting the talent at a young age themselves!!

Be interesting to see if Rod Ellingworth leaving for Bahrain-Merida will make any difference

Might as well just let Thomas and Bernal battle each other now... No one close enough to really stop them getting top two

Don’t write off Kruijswijk yet for 2nd, although I think you are right.

Amazing that Sky/Ineos now have four different winners in recent years.

I'd be more pleased had they not beaten a Brit ;)

They could probably let all three challenge and they'd still be a threat

Anybody who thinks this is still legit is deluding themselves. Inside ten years this performance will have an asterisk beside it. Laughable.
    Absolutely.
It's really stupid too. The improvement is ridiculous

I love the Tour but the last day rollover stinks.
If it's a race then it should be raced for 100% of the course.
