Yes, it looks like their warnings to reduce numbers may have done the trick.FishCostaFortune said:Going assume by the silence that the trains were fine post work?0 -

Fast train to and from Orpington today, both left on time and this mornings arrived early at Charing Cross. This evenings train, I think the aircon was set a little cold.stop shouting said:On time this morning and four minutes late this evening. Said before, chislehurst line is where it’s at. Who would seriously do that? However hot it is that is not acceptable.Brendan_O_Connell said:

Grayling's gone. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss:
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/grant-shapps-hs2-heathrow-transport-policy-voting-record-boris-johnson-a9020141.html
"Shapps doesn't have the best reputation as a politician: he ran a get-rich-quick scheme under a false name, and was caught misleading the public about it. Last year he resigned from a role at a property website after allegations of a "secret pay deal" worth up to £700,000. As a shadow minister he took donations from companies relevant to his portfolio, which some argued amounted to a conflict of interest."
Sounds like an absolute c*%t, so fully expecting South Eastern to have their franchise extended by another decade.
On a separate note, there was a bloke on the radio this morning explaining why the rail network has collapsed in the heat, particularly in relation to tracks warping. He was asked why it happens hear but not in Spain, Japan etc. Apparently they stretch the rails to reduce warping - in Spain they stretch them more in anticipation of higher temperatures, whereas in this country ours were stretched to cope with temperatures up to 27C.
I was taught about climate change and global warming when I was at primary school in the 1980's, but apparently nobody with anything to do with looking after the train lines in the UK has ever heard of it. Pathetic.5 -
Well how often do we get temperatures above 27C . Happens all the time in most of Spain i would think. 900 miles nearer the equator for a start. Only 700 miles to john o groats and the weather up there is not comparable to london.0

Well, I haven't got time to research our entire weather history, so I've just checked back as far as 2009 - we've had temperatures over 27C every year since then, even in 2010 which was the coldest year since 1986.Bromley Graham said:Well how often do we get temperatures above 27C . But presumably, because we don't get temperatures of over 27C all year round, there's no point in doing anything about it and our entire country, which is one of the richest in the world, should just accept that everything will descend into farce for a few days every year. Just we do every autumn when trees shock everyone by dropping leaves. Just as we do every winter, when the completely unexpected cold weather leads to completely unforeseeable icy conditions. Don't get me started on snow.
Let's just base our entire infrastructure on the premise that it's going to be Spring all year round.5 -
Consistent temperature over 27C?. And yes there will be a few days a year when parts of the country descend into farce when an unexpected un seasonal event happens but thats life. Railways were crap 60 years ago at times, snow and ice closed roads. Always has been, always will.

Last summer we had consistent temps over 27c for about 6 weeks. All the experts are saying that this will become the norm now and have been warning about it for years but still people will say global warming is fake news.Bromley Graham said:Consistent temperature over 27C?. I think its pretty poor that SouthEastern cannot still run a decent train service despite making huge amounts of money for years.
To say it was crap 60yrs ago and always will be is not on really. If thats the case it should be priced at 60yrs ago2
