Typical communist statement attacking the free market.

Thats just insane, the kid has barely done anything in Football to even warrant that sort of wage!!
Makes you wonder if this is the problem with the England team prior to Southgate (as has been going on for a while now), kids not putting in 100% effort because they dont want to get injured and so miss out on the cash long term!!0 -

Our house in the middle of our street...or robroys if his 405 k seals it.0

It’s absolutely obscene someone should be payed this much, when others throughout the globe don’t have enough to eat!
What does this say about the society we live in, this really shouldn’t be allowed!
This is really taking the PISS.2 -

It says he was encouraged by Lampards postive words, a relief he didn’t speak negatively, otherwise he would have been off on a night boat to Cairo or somewhere. Hundred grand a week or not......2

Nearly had a Cardiac Arrest over this.1

To coin a phrase from the takeover thread – he is worth what people are willing to pay.
Is a Rothko painting worth $80M?
Is it worth £5k to get a muppet from Love Island or Gordie Shore to endorse your product on Instagram?
Packet of cigarettes worth £12 or a cocktail in a poncey London bar worth £20?
Paying four times the price for a T-Shirt with a logo on it or a football shirt with a team’s badge on it?
Paying a hipster £65 for a traditional cut-throat razor shave, when you could do it yourself far more safely in the comfort of your own bathroom?
Paying £1M to Real Madrid to play your team in a pre-season friendly?
The Rolling Stones grossing $240M for their last 40 date tour.
I could go on.
It’s not just Football that has gone mad or..... totally sane, bang on the money, depending on your point of view.

You forgot to add the price of Southeastern season tickets1 -
Frank Lampard is Chelsea manager? Genuinely didn't know that...0

Madness ? .. he'd be mad to turn it down. Odoi will be set up for the rest of his life by the time he is twenty. Who amongst us would have turned down an offer like that ?.
I am sure that there have been and still are teenaged pop/rock stars making that kind of loot.
If you don't like the grossness of the amounts of money floating around in 'top' football (I concede that some salaries, e.g. Sanchez at Man U and some transfer fees look absurd) then don't pay TV subs and don't go to games. Little of this applies to our beloved CAFC of course ((:>)

Without getting into the pointless babble around whether this or that player can be worth £5m pa - have a thought as to how much of that ends up in the treasury through taxation.
At that level player pays tax at 45% on all of it, plus employer pays 13.8% on top of most of it (above 8500p.a.)
In very round numbers that's £2,900,000 tax per year just for that one "undeserving parasite".
Multiply that up by all those players paid that and many times more, makes for a whole stack of tax to assuage all those ills you're all so dismayed about.
Add in the impact of all those witless youngsters and their decadent spending power - can't see the harm myself.
Better they get paid these "immoral" salaries here than in China, say.2 -
Most footballers earning that sort of money are in various tax schemes were they pay a lot Less tax than that.3

What is madness is thinking someone earning £5m a year actually pays his fair share of tax on it.1

At the age of 18 he has already broken into Chelsea's first team and the England squad. In the entire history of English football only 17 players have made their international debut for us at aged 18 or younger. And 5 of those were before 1900!
Wanted by a number of top european clubs and widely touted as one of the top 5 players of his age in the world.
100k a week to get him signed him up long term instead of losing him for 30-40m seems very good business to me. 5.2m a year in wages for a player who could be worth 150-200m in a couple of years. No brainer for Chelsea.0 -
