He's not a striker and isn't going to be moved up front just because he's scored a few in pre-season.7

what is his preferred position?

Neither because he isn't a striker.Ross said:Karlan’s replacement? Or another James Walker who did amazing in the reserves and pre season but didn’t get a chance in the first team?
I hope it’s the former.0 -
Yeh, it smells very much like someone in the family has cracked his passwordCovered End said:

Always thought he was a winger, recently asked to play full-back.Redrobo said:A defensive midfielder that has always scored his fair share of goals.1 -
I'll take that compliment.Garrymanilow said:

Must be the hot weather0 -
He was described as a Roy Keane type of player who bully’s opposition midfielders when he signed. I just assumed he played more central.harveys_gardener said:

Dyksteele at right back and Brendan right side midfield would be interesting.0 -
I presume he's been playing in midfield pre-season and still scoring from there?, or has he been pushed further forward?
I've not seen any games0 -
Bowyer is a great coach for him as a midfielder. Look at the development of Aribo and JFC, not to mention Cullen last season.4

I don’t know about last night, but was playing right back in the other games.Elthamaddick said:I presume he's been playing in midfield pre-season and still scoring from there?, or has he been pushed further forward?

I think he was playing like a right wing back in a few of the pre-season games.
Imagine the future Stevenson on the left after his EFL Trophy hat-trick and Sarpong-Wiredu on the right, both banging the goals in! (We can dream right?)0 -
Let's hope that he develops as quickly as did Joe Aribo and that he is able to fill one of some very big gaps in our midfield a s a p1

I made a really well thought out quip about the new signing with "last night a Deji saved my life" and got about 7 lols and 2 likes.Garrymanilow said:

One sexual reference and I get 27 lols.
That just shows that CL's collective mind is in the gutter and prefers low end smut over middle brow puns.2 -

Saw Wiredu at Bromley last season, he was playing centre midfield.1

So is Roland, he’s running low on young saleable assets. 😉hoof_it_up_to_benty said:

All a bit premature this, yes he's done ok in the pre-season friendlies, but no where near first team ready yet!LouisMend said:https://www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/charlton-youngster-brendan-wiredu-ready-to-make-mark-on-first-team-after-fruitful-pre-season/ All those Mackems have stopped clogging up the website traffic so should load reasonably briskly now

Maybe not as a starter, but being able to play right back, right midfield and central midfield could see him on the bench. IF we sign a few more then a six month loan would be good.Essex_Al said:

OK so he isn't a striker...?0
-
No, believe he’s played right midfield, centre midfield and more recently right back/right wing back.razil said:OK so he isn't a striker...?
As with Toby Stevenson last season some want him thrown into the first team after scoring a few goals in meaningless games.
If he’s genuinely ready and good enough Bowyer will give him a chance. The goals don’t prove anything either way, especially if Bowyer sees him as a wing back.2 -
Hope everything is alright with him and that this is anything Charlton related

Something isn’t right, I asked the question on twitter and someone said he is fit and he liked it so I am assuming he has been left out for a reason
