No, Sunderland spent millions on him, we would never be in for him at that price.letthegoodtimesroll said:
Didn’t Sunderland ‘beat us to signing’ will grigg last season ?BR7_addick said:Vital Charlton, the same vital Charlton who claimed Oztumer has signed already despite appearing for Bolton the next day..
Claiming the player Sunderland beat us to signing was Marquis.
I get the lol’s now.1 -
Don’t want Marquis anyway. Bang average footballer who would struggle in the champ . Shite lid also1
-
He was good from Christmas last year until it mattered . Jury out- hope he continues to prove me wrongBR7_addick said:
Yeah he’s unproven not disputing but you’d agree with me that he’s got a lot better since 15/16.wmcf123 said:
He’s totally unproven in the championship, as is most of our squad. It’s fair enough to say that the jury is out- I hope they all make it and we have a great season.BR7_addick said:
When he was 21 with 4 years less football under his belt, yes I did whys that?wmcf123 said:
You saw Sarr 4 years ago ?BR7_addick said:
I think Phillips, Dijksteel, Sarr, Pearce, Purrington, Williams and Taylor would disagree seen as they pissed it last season.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:Our squad looks ready for L1.
I really don’t think the squad looks too bad all considered just as long as these loanees can play we’ll be sweet.0 -
Vital Charlton, who on Monday said Oztumer is “100% signing this week”.
Now said he’s turned down an 8k contract.7 -

An 8k contract where? No way we offered that.BR7_addick said:Vital Charlton, who on Monday said Oztumer is “100% signing this week”.

Edit: Unless it was 8k per year.10 -
As a starting point, we have to be stronger this season than last season. This is not currently the case - largely due to the midfield. The loans Bowyer can bring in will be vital to how we eventually do. I would say defensively we are no weaker, possibly a bit stronger overall and up front we a a little stronger, but could do with another player of teh right quality. But ultimately our season is all about midfield.3

Agreed, especially if he goes with the diamond midfield in games.MuttleyCAFC said:As a starting point, we have to be stronger this season than last season. Yeah you do because that’s a load of bollocks.letthegoodtimesroll said:cafcfan1990 said:
That should be done behind closed doors. Look I’m not defending Roland, we all know what he is but he took on the job and knew the situation. If Roland got anything from Konsa and is getting anything from Lookman he should be on at him but I’m not holding my breath.cafc_se7 said:
You can’t knock him for trying, you should remember he has already made the rat budge in regards to his own contract (albeit probably not by a great amount)!?cafcfan1990 said:Sorry Lee but you knew what you signed up for. I understand his frustration and I won’t be blaming him if we struggle this season but he can’t continually go on about it, ha knew the score.
My wild guess theory is this is for show. I think Roland is backing LB, he clearly wanted him to stay and last season has caused a sea change and nobody’s noticed. I suspect for the outside world the story is there’s a limited pot of money available and LB has to stick to the budget, that way LB can say to other clubs and agents that’s all he can offer, take it or leave it. But my guess is for the right player or players something extra could be added to the transfer kitty if it looks like it’s a one-off special circumstance. I wouldn’t rule out a couple of ‘wtf’ signings that create a bit of excitement just yet. Right, I now need to get out of the sun...
The story is there’s a limited pot because that’s true. We will sign a maximum of 2 more permanently, both on frees and then 4/5 loans. Even then we may be out of the running if other clubs pay a larger % of their wages.3 -

303 appearances, 110 goals, so a goal every 2.754 games, 26 years old, 5'10", would have been a pretty decent signing IMO1

I wouldn't believe a word that vital Charlton says 1 minute it's a done deal with oztumer next day hes turned down 8k a week then he said its marquis joining Sunderland buys it's not the fella just guesses when redhenry says something that's when to believe it1
-
McNulty was quality at Coventry, albeit while they were in League Two.2

Completely agree, I think they got lucky with Aneke and has since thought they could keep doing the same.FAVADDICK said:I wouldn't believe a word that vital Charlton says 1 minute it's a done deal with oztumer next day hes turned down 8k a week then he said its marquis joining Sunderland buys it's not the fella just guesses when redhenry says something that's when to believe it
Only person on here I truly believe when it comes to signings is RedHenry. Even though I have faith in the information I was given to me last week, from a very good place, we still haven’t signed that midfielder just yet, albeit we did make a signing before the Colchester game and someone who hadn’t really been mentioned, which was more of the information I got, but they did say a midfielder too.
Overall, unless it comes from Cawley, Mendez, RedHenry, and maybe the place I got my information from, there aren’t many people who know until it’s on the official site.5 -
There's been a couple of young Prem players going out on loan to the Championship today so we might be about to start seeing some movement.0

I think we might see the Chelsea kid today that's only a guess as bows said in a interview in the next couple of dayscovered end junior said:There's been a couple of young Prem players going out on loan to the Championship today so we might be about to start seeing some movement.0 -
No way are we currently stronger up front although that definitely can’t be the case in a couple of weeks time.MuttleyCAFC said:As a starting point, we have to be stronger this season than last season. If we finish behind Luton and Barnsley this season we will almost certainly be relegated.3 -
Bielik wasn't even in the squad for Arsenal versus Real. And when i say "squad" it was something like 22 players, and even included Carl Jenkinson.
Anyone have any (informed) idea why not? Injury?0 -

Hasnt really done it above League Two, with a bit of an Ajose type scoring record1 -

When Bowyer was asked last week if he would see any of the Lookman sell on money, he laughed.
Some people have even said we've got a smaller budget this year than we had last year, but not sure how true that is.
We lost our main centre back because we wouldn't offer him a couple of grand a week extra. We lost Aribo because our owner was too tight to give him a decent offer last summer.
And now we're a championship side shopping around for league one free transfers.
What part of any of this would you suggest is Roland backing the manager?34 -
He got an extended holiday due to the under 21 Euro's so didn't go on their tour.PragueAddick said:Bielik wasn't even in the squad for Arsenal versus Real. And when i say "squad" it was something like 22 players, and even included Carl Jenkinson.

We got 88 points and beat the team with the biggest league one budget ever in the play off final, if that doesn’t warrant a step up for those players I mentioned I don’t know what does.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Those that decide to go easy on Roland are delusional. How much evidence do you need FFS! Having said that, through good luck, we have an excellent manager and whilst he would probably take us up again with some decent support, he has the capability to see us ok - even if it is going to be tough. What he achieved last season was tough too!
I am resigned to a poor start, but hopefully he can get the quality of loan required and steady the ship reasonably soon into the season.2 -
Genuine question... Is Oztumer any better than Callum Harriott? could that be the delay in the (potential) signing.
Harriott has only really played in the Championship and has a pretty average scoring record. Oztumer has had 2 good years in league 1 following some good performances at non-league level. He didn't get much game time for a poor Bolton side in the Championship in his only year at that level. I don't know how Harriott got on at Reading, was his playing time limited due to ability or injury?
I'm not overly excited by either of them (at Championship level) but would probably favour Harriott based on experience at the level.

If we missed out on marc mcnulty, shows how desperate we are1
-
Are you not worried then that he is the sort of player that we are trying to sign, and not even as a last minute panic buy?Jessie said:
I watched a few Hibs games last season in which he didn't score a single goal but wasted quite a few chances including a couple of very easy ones. So if he's exactly the player that we got beaten to sign by Sunderland, I won't be disappointed really.ForeverAddickted said:
