    My wife grew up in Newport Beach OC - and we still visit a couple of times a year.

    I may be biased but Orange County is so much nicer than LA county. Likes of Laguna, Newport, Huntington Beach over Santa Monica any day for me.

    We did the first boat out, I think we booked it at the office itself? It was 18 years ago, so memory is vague. Try and get to the baseball too, it's a great place to watch a game, even if the Giants are pretty awful this season...

    We are heading for California this summer - only a couple of hours by air from Alberta. Two weeks in Mendocino & San Francisco. Alcatraz is on the list again, a fantastic day out - first boat is a must. Also have a San Jose Earthquakes game lined up - well worth getting to a game there - beautiful stadium.
