Let's move, yeah Powell was great playing for us, yeah his League 1 team was great but let's move on, he ain't done much since.

The time wasting I am unhappy about is the continuing feigning of serious injury. To my mind that is cheating same as diving. I understand the ref cannot ignore a player saying they are injured, but he could then add on the 20 minutes lost ( we probably would not have scored)2

I can understand a bit of time wasting as they were clearly the weaker team and having to play most the game with 10 men, but it was the way they went about it that was disappointing from a Chris Powell team, he is a man we look at as an honest pro doing things the right way. His team today were just cheats pure and simple. The ref didn’t help as he had no control of the situation, the goalkeepers antics were just ridiculous towards the end. Oh and the fattest physio in the world didn’t help!4

It's interesting that people wrote him off as a manager before any of his team had kicked a ball; oh he's too nice, he'll never make it as a manager. For some even a 100 point season wasn't enough to change their perspective. Now his new team have faced us using some less than nice tactics people are bleating. That's football folks, you have to play to your strengths and if your strengths aren't on a par the the opposition you may need to give them a kick or run down the clock.22

Why is it, when people (Charlton) critique CP, it always comes with a "top bloke" comment? Every knows he's a really nice bloke, but I personally find that most people are nice. Dowie was nice when I met him, but I wouldn't want him selling programs at Charlton, let alone managing...6

I can accept time wasting but constantly feigning injury was just too much yesterday and the ref did f*** all. The injury time was a joke - it could easily have been doubled.
What made it worse was Southend could easily have won at the end.1 -
The reason teams feign injury and kick teams all over the park is because the refs allow it. In the main most refs at this level are crap.9

Maybe time to adopt the rugby method. Automatically stop the clock for incidents & injuries. Virtually all teams in EFL have a stadium clock. It's even sillier that once 90 mins have elapsed you're not allowed to see the added on time. Probably THE time that you are most interested in how long has been played & how long is left.21

The keeper going down injured worked as it killed our momentum and after that they had 2 great chances to.score. Before this a yellow card to the keeper early on would have helped but I think the ref was worried about the no. of cards already dished out. I think in the end our team looked very disjointed with our subs and I think Powell may look back and think maybe his team could have played a bit more and even with 10 men got the win.1

I dont have a problem with timewasting we do the same albeit not quite so cynically, thats modern football. As Robinson said Allardyce plan is to reduce playing time against the stringer teams. What i did not like about this Powell team was the cutting down of players with thigh high tackles with no intention to get the ball. Powell never played like that and its sad that he condones it as a manager. 2 games and 3 sendings off!1
