    Ford Focus ST in Orange
BMW 1 series M Sport convertible
    Ford Focus ST in silver
Audi A6 estate (A4 estate written off)
Ford Mustang 5.0 V8 in Orange

The worst car - the BMW
    The best car - Mustang
Most reliable - Audi A4 estate
    Most unreliable - the BMW
One missed the most - Focus ST in Orange and Audi A4 estate

Hmm, the new mustangs give me the horn. As a matter of interest, what sort of mpg are you getting out of the V8?
First up - get one - they are a hell of a lot of car for the money

Second - get the 5.0 V8 - Ford have been making that engine for years and its bullet proof

Third - it's not as bad as you would imagine on thirstyness - sensible motorway driving you get around 25mpg - if you have a lead foot however it's thirsty - town driving it's probably just under 20 mpg

Third - don't be fooled by the gadgets, at its heart it's still a muscle car - it can still bite !!!
Fourth - They sound fucking great
I have an aftermarket Roush exhaust on mine - sounds like nuclear war - you hear me long before you see me - must make it around 5 times louder than the standard exhaust

    I don't think I'll ever grow up !!
One went past me on the A2 a while back - bloody thing nearly woke me up!

    looks and sounds great

Me neither. Despite owing my MG for over 20 years, I still take every opportunity to drop down a gear and accelerate when I go through a tunnel (especially with the roof down)

  • Interesting thread.

1966 Triumph Spitfire Mk2, me an dad renovated it then, he borrowed it and wrote if off when he was a bit pissed.
1972 Mini Clubman, tuned to the eyeballs. Great car
1978 Chrysler Alpine - dont ask.
1985 Fiat Mirafiori - cracking car.
1974 Mini Cooper. - Top motah.
1984 Ford Transit - was in a band and couldn't afford two cars.
1991? Ford Mondeo - again dont ask.
1994 Vauxhall Astra Estate - Kids came along
1997 Vauxhall Zafira - More kids came along
1989 Nissan Sunny, got divorced and all I could afford, the old man gave it to me, he was deaf as a post and had those really loud indicator alerts fitted, they lasted about 10 mins when I got it.
1999 Ford Focus 1.4 Zetec - one of the best cars I have owned...seriously, it handled like a go kart. loads a fun.
1956 Hotchkiss Jeep - Cracking car.
    2004 Vauxhall corsa - Meh!
1973 Lightweight Military Landrover, I rescued it from a fella in Clapham, he'd used it in his off road club and it had sat in his garden with no roof on it for 3 years, I renovated it back to its military spec, except added a V6 Granada Cologne engine mated to the double Landrover Gearbox, this thing used to go like stink, didn't like corners though, but could climb a mountain.
2003 VW Golf 1.6 - good old Hitler, blew it up 2 weeks before Xmas last year....
2003 Alfa Romeo 147 T-Spark 65k miles from new, leather everything, proper Italian style, FSH, immaculate, been told that there maybe a Q mark over reliability, picked it up 3 weeks ago, goes like stink for a box. So far so good.

For me though bikes are the real deal, you get off a Superbike after a good thrash and you can feel the adrenaline pumping...no car has ever done that for me and no car is fast compared to those things, ultimate 2 dimensional travel for me.

BUT I am still waiting for my dream car, a WW2 dated Willys Jeep fully loaded...maybe just maybe.

    Passed 88.
S-reg Cavalier - bought for £300 in 1989 written off after it was hit outside the house after I'd spent £300 getting it through the MOT.
B-reg Escort mk 4 - sort of inherited it in 96. It had had one careless driver and the engine was gone.
R reg Ford Ka - bought after the Escort expired in 99. Nippy and suited me for a while but we had a kid and outgrew it.
And I found it made me car sick while driving.
2004 Ford Focus - 2005 to now. Changed jobs and didn't need to drive to work so haven't done the miles. It's had a few scrapes and looks terrible, but runs OK. Got to decide on whether I get another as it falls foul of ULEZ even though it's petrol. Still runs OK though.

Not really a car person as you can probably tell - for me it's a thing to get from A to B not an extension of my image.

My 2002 petrol Focus passes the ULEZ test, so slightly surprised. Mine is a 1.6
I checked the number plate. It's a 1.3 which might be why. We've outgrown it so I need to knuckle down and get something else or give up having a car and hire one for holidays
