BLACKPOOL 2 CHARLTON 1 - 8TH December 2018

BLACKPOOL 2 (Gnanduillet 16, Delfouneso 87) CHARLTON 1 (Aribo 55)

Attendance: 3,024 (433 Charlton)

Blackpool Howard, Daniels, Heneghan, Dodoo (Delfouneso 75), Thompson, Tilt (c) (O’Connor 59), Taylor (Guy 62), Turton, Gnanduillet, Feeney, Bola.

Charlton Steer, Solly, Bauer, Pearce, Stevenson, Lapslie (Reeves 79), Bielik, Aribo, Fosu (Marshall 70), Grant, Taylor.

Summary

More gloom for the Addicks as last week's disappointing cup exit was followed by a poor performance and defeat on the road. Backpool scored twice from two Scrabble-porn entries, and not for the first time this season a late goal robbed the Addicks of points.

Bowyer: “I don’t think we deserved that. The lads gave it everything and we didn’t deserve to lose.

“We started off well in the first half. We moved the ball and I thought if we carry on doing this then we’ll win the game comfortably. But then after 10 minutes, we started doing what they do, going long, and it became like a dogfight. They were winning more second balls and it was just scrappy. Obviously, we gave them a goal head start and the first half wasn’t good enough.”

“Second half, I thought we controlled the game very well and created so many chances. We just weren’t ruthless enough and they nicked it at the end. For me, when we equalised, it felt like only one team were going to win this game. It was just a matter of time, but then to concede a goal like that was just frustrating.

“We’ll learn from it and pick them back up. I‘ve just said to them ‘you gave me everything there.’ In the first 45 minutes, you can’t give a team a one-goal lead, but that’s what’s cost us. That and a referee’s decision in the first half.”

At the game...

@Croydon : Just waiting at Blackpool North for the one train an hour that takes us to Preston.

That first half is up there with the worst performances I've seen from a Charlton side. There couldn't have been any arguments if we'd gone into the break 3-0 down. Second half we improved, and looked threatening for the 15 mins or so after Aribo's equaliser, but we didn't take our chances and we continued to look weak at the back throughout.

Not sure what Bielik was doing for their winner, but overall the team today wasn't good enough and it makes a total mockery of Bowyer's team selection last week.

I'll be at Pompey on Tuesday but I fear what'll happen if we turn up as half arsed as we did for the first half hour today.

Good atmosphere from our fans today, and a few of us were commenting on how impressive Blackpool's boycott is. Nice people up here so I hope Oyston f***s off soon so they can back to watching their club.

(NOT) At the game...

@AFKABartram : We’re going to turn Pompey over.

Keep the faith peeps

I unfortunately don’t have a computer at home and don’t access from work PC, so can only use my phone for CL stuff at the mo unless I get to the library at lunchtimes. Those match collections are impossible to do on a phone and I’ve been silly busy with work over the last month, so now playing catch up.
  • Each one takes about half hour so once you get a game or two behind it becomes a real pain :-(
  • No worries, but to balance it out can you bump the thread from 25/05/98?
