    This was the one where England manager Kevin Keegan was the guest of honour and where Jimmy Seed was inaugurated into the original Charlton 'Hall of Fame'. 
    Keegan singled out Chris Powell during his speech, saying that someone had recommended him for an England call up, and would he please stand up and make himself known (which he did to much applause and laughter). Keegan selected him for his England debut shortly after I believe. [edit: wrong].
    My mum couldn't make the event, so I collected some autographs for her. Richard Redden, Chris Powell and a couple of others, one of whom might have been Andy Hunt, from memory.




    There was a presentation to commemorate the Hall of Fame inclusion.

    It was Sven who picked him for England, not Kevin Keegan

For the record we three have been ever present / season ticket holders since. Incidentally, at a later stage my daughter saw her first football game - at the Valley. Must be a rarity eh? Three siblings, one team, debuting at three different home grounds.
    If a grandparent saw their first game at Catford, you’d have the full set.

    Any other celebrations planned this year or is everyone too fed up?

    Not being at the back to the Valley game is one of my biggest regrets in 56 odd years following Charlton.

    Yes , Nathan (Jokes) Jones getting fired . I will celebrate that.

    We are only 2 promotions from the premier league. Look what Brentford, Brighton and Fulham have done from relative obscurity.

    Ipswich turned their fortunes around in 2 seasons and Wrexham are storming up the leagues after years of being in the doldrums outside of the league.

    Even just getting back to being a competitive Championship side is one promotion away.  Whilst they both seem unlikely scenarios it can all turn around very quickly with the right manager and players. 


     Good times WILL return.

    Hasn't Charlton lost on this day before? Don't single this out (like this is the only 5th December since 1992 Charlton hasn't lost in and around this date)

    I would say that if we were playing at Selhurst today (or worse). We are lucky to have what we have, and today shows what we can do as a fan base if things are going wrong.

    Same mate. I was in LA on the last leg of a year round the world trip. Couldn’t get home.
