Many of you will have seen this story from when it was first released on 6 June 2016, the anniversary of D-Day but as we approach Remberance Sunday we would like to remember him again.

Geoff is our only know fatality from WW2

    Just re-read this and the Nobby Nightingale story's. Both brilliant.

    Planning on going to visit some WW1 cemeteries in Belgium next year. Might make an effort to see where Nobby lies...

    Canters, we are planning a trip to the WW1 cemeteries next year as one of our illustrious is a expert and tour guide of that area.

    On the taxi trip to Belgium visiting Nobby's resting place was incredibly poignant and moving.

    Surely 99 not 81? My dad died last year aged 84 and was way too young to have fought in the Second World War.

    You're right, I looked at the wrong date.

    Yes, we have a memorial to the FWW fallen but not Geoff.

    We had thought of having a metal wreath holder made with his name.

    Just need a design and some one to make it.

    To mark the 75th anniversary of Geoff's death on 4 August 1944, the Charlton Athletic Museum arranged and paid for a memorial, in the form of a wreath holder, to be put up at the Valley.

    Fans can see the memorial in the alcove behind the Sam Bartram statue.

    Found the Reynolds Family on the Census taken on 29 September 1939

    Residing at 236 Footscray Road Eltham SE9 were Geoff, his father, his sister and presumably?  paternal grandfather

    Reynolds Geoffrey CA    04 09 1919     Goods Porter
    Reynolds Albert H          24 07 1860     Coachman (retired)

    Interesting that he's listed as a Goods Porter.

    He was realeased by Charlton in May 1939 and Joined Torquay but they cancelled his registration when the war began. United didn't play during WW2.

    Reynolds joined up in 1941 and I'd wondered what he'd done from 39 to 41.

    I still haven't got over to the Normandy beaches.  I've made it to the cemeteries at Dieppe and some of the WW1 places like Toc H.  Once the COVID situation eases, we'll have to have an AA family journey to see this new memorial.
