Aaron passed away today it was very peaceful, he was with Saraya and his mum.

I would like to thank everyone who bid, donated and took the time to read Aaron's story, it really does mean so much.

He was an absolute inspiration and so brave right to the end but he is at peace now, Aaron's Battle is over.

Rest in beautiful peace Aaron you very special young man x

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear this he fought so hard and was so brave

I'm really sorry for your loss

  • Really sorry to read this. Very sad.

    RIP Aaron

  • Some things really aren't fair and to lose your life at such a young age is about as unfair as it gets. So sorry for Aaron, his family and everyone else who had the pleasure of knowing him.

    RIP Aaron
  • That is terrible news.

I only ‘knew’ Aaron from here, but the sheer quantum of financing events and people willing to get involved and fight for him showed just how many people he touched in his relatively short time.

He seemed an inspirational and determined young man and I hope Saraya and his wider family can find some solace and peace in that.

Thoughts and prayers to you @BowieAddick

  • Amazingly inspirational words from Saraya

'It’s with a broken heart that I have to say that Aaron passed away in the early hours of Friday morning. He was at home where he wanted to be and drifted off peacefully in his sleep. He had spoken about it and was ready to go, it seemed as though he chose the exact moment for himself. Aaron was the most special man that any of us will ever have the pleasure of knowing. His massive smile and energy never failed to win peoples hearts and brighten their lives along with his kind, caring nature and of course his wicked sense of humour. I’m sure you all know that it’s impossible to describe just how special he was.

I know we were lucky in some ways that we knew the chance of death was there and we got the chance to speak about lots of things before it came. But on the other hand the closeness and just absolutely pure love we developed over the last 2 years after everything we’ve been through together is one I can’t even begin to describe and the loss feels unbearable for me right now as I know it will to so many of you that loved him so much. I never knew you could be so close to one person and love them so intensely and selflessly as he did to me and I to him. He has changed the lives of so many of us in such a positive way and will continue to do so I’m sure.

Aaron fought so hard for so long, and I know you’ll all be as disappointed as we are that the treatment didn’t work, but we can take comfort in knowing that we all tried our hardest and gave him the best possible chance. Unfortunately the cancer was just too aggressive. As always I can’t thank you all enough for letting him have that chance. Aaron gave me strict instructions on lots of things and one of those things was that he wants Aaron’s Battle to become a charity to help other people, so if you’d like to help us carry on pushing for that target and building Aaron’s legacy then I’d be honoured. Keep your banners up with pride and carry on with your fundraising events if you feel able to. Most of the money we raised was spent on his treatment but I’ll figure out how much is left over the next few days or so and in time we will use that to start the charity that will be Aaron’s legacy. He has changed the whole of Barton for the better and I hope he can continue to change the world through his charity.

I am trying to remind myself all the time that more than anything Aaron wanted us all to be happy, and made me promise I’d be okay if he was gone. Right now that feels like the only reason I’ll be able to put one foot in front of the other. I will try my hardest to remember the good times and laugh at all the memories, and I hope you’ll all do the same.

We haven’t made any funeral plans yet, we are taking our time to grieve and will think about that next week when we’re ready. I know everyone is eager to know so they can make plans and I promise I’ll let you all know as soon as we’ve got anything sorted. Thanks for all the kind messages we’ve had, we really do appreciate them even if replying is too hard right now.

I will love you forever Aaron.

Jeeez.....what a tragedy, so very unfair.
    RIP......young man......RIP.
  • Lovely words from Saraya. My heart goes out to her at this dreadful time, and all the family. So brave of Aaron to decide he wanted the fundraising to help others and be his legacy. I hope it will be.
