to build a football team
He had no money
so had to get them on loan
He built from the back
Lyle Taylor in attach
we're Charlton Athletic
We're on our way back
Some prefer to drop the "Lyle"
Its been nicked from the Wendies, but it is a damn good song3 -

Its hard to trace any song back so many teams sing the same songs now.
Look at Since I was young how many teans now sing that(think that originated from a scottish team)1 -

Motherwell I think? They probably pinched it off a European team though, most songs with a lot of drumming and singing without words have an ultra originpaulie8290 said:Its hard to trace any song back so many teams sing the same songs now.

Simon and Garfunkles song feeling groovy
Slow down, you move too fast
You got to make the 90 minutes last
Kicking towards the covered end
Scoring goals and all is groovy
Hello horse, what cha knowing?
I've come to watch Lee Bowyers team growing
Kicking towards the covered end

Two beats too long in the second line of first verse....(take out the word 90).Solidgone said:Simon and Garfunkles song feeling groovy

Same problem in second line of second verse.....two beats too many.....take out the word Bowyer and change Lee to Lee’s).
Otherwise quite a good effort.....but one cannot put in extra words/beats as it totally destroys the flow and coupling of words with beats.
Sorry to be so pedantic sg.

I must admit I did consider these extra beats when initially toying with the lyrics but got all confused and thought sod it. I also doubt whether the Cupboard Enders will know the tune or this will go any further than this thread. But thanks for your comment.SoundAsa£ said:

I like to think that we invented the chant: "Red Army" though not to mention we were the first to chant "C.A.F.C" regardless of what those bloody Crewe fans sing!!paulie8290 said:Its hard to trace any song back so many teams sing the same songs now.
