RIP Kevin far too young.
Remember him as a mainstay of the Bobby Robson Ipswich side containing, Mariner, Brazil, Butcher, Wark, Gates to name but a few. Pretty sure he played in the 1981, 5th round FA Cup tie against us at Portman road (we lost 0-2). We were riding high in Division 3 under Mike Bailey en route back to Division 2 (Championship) whilst they were runners up in the old the first Division (Premier) that season and UEFA Cup Winners.3 -

I had no comprehension he was that old - my memory playing tricks on me, seems like he was playing much more recently. Very good player in Bobby's excellent Ipswich side.

I always identified with Kevin Beattie. Same age, same type of player - he was just better than me by a million times. RIP.0

A cracking player as others have said. 64 is no blooming age either.

Very sad news enjoyed watching him play0

But for injuries would have been an England centre-half for as long as he wanted. Really classy, powerful player. Remember a towering headed goal when we beat Scotland 5-1. RIP.1

Brilliant defender. One I grew up with in that wonderful Ipswich side. Very sad. RIP0

Very sad. R.I.P. very good player.
Just as an aside, was he one of the Ipswich players who appeared in Escape to Victory? I know Russell Osman and John Wark did, amongst others, but I can’t remember if Beattie had a role.1 -
fantastic defender ahead of his time who also scored a good number of goals. Often described as too brave for his own good. A rock hard Cumbrian .. R I P Kevin0
