    Nice one Paulie.

Murray will face Verdasco (31 seed) in round 2 and then if he wins, most likely Del Potro (3 seed) in round 3... can’t see him getting any further than that!

Norrie will face Lajovic (unseeded, world no.62) in round 2 and assuming he wins, probably Isner (11 seed) in round 3.

Interesting that Del Potro is now at a career high world number 3. He’s always been a brilliant player but has finally had a year plus of no injuries.

He would be number 1 but for Federer and Nadal clinging on to their pro careers...

Makes me wonder who the next stars will be. Raonic, Dimitrov, Thiem and even Zverev don’t seem to be able to match the older guys.

Who is the next tennis super star?

Del Potro hasn't been mentioned as a winner, but he is a former US open champion and must be a contender

Zverev is still only 21 and he is more of a clay player, although he did win a ATP event on hard earlier this month but I expect him to win slams soon.

Medvedev is another player who i expect will start winning slams soon, he won an ATP event last week without dropping a set.

Tsitsipas is again another player who has made great strides this year and I expect to challenge soon, he beat Thiem, Novak and Zverev in Toronto a few weeks ago before losing to Nadal in final.

I expected more from Khachanov, but I suppose he still has time.

The thing with these mentioned above they are all in there early twenties, so when Nadal, Fed and Novak do retire these players will still be in there 20s and I fully expect them to be near the top of the rankings

Heat is causing alot of issues today.

5 players have retired injured from Matches today.

And a rule is in place after 3 sets in the mens matches both players go off court for a 10 minute break, before coming back on court to finish the match

So yes, both players took the chance of having a 10-minute break after the third set as a result of the enacted extreme heat policy.

What did you do during those 10 minutes, Novak?

The Serb said he wasn't allowed to talk to any of his team members and jokingly said he exchanged signs as to what he needed to do out on court.

He then said: "We (Fucsovics and himself) both had ice baths and we were both naked in ice baths next to each other. It was quite a magnificent feeling."

The moral of the tale, is that every hot and humid day at the US Open has a happy ending.

I see Konta has gone out in the first round for the second year running.

Hasn't she gone out first round in the last three French Opens.

Seems to specialise in going out early in the majors.

Are the men allowed to do it between serves or just between games/at change of ends? Seems to me the distinction here might be that she did while waiting to receive a serve. Although Nadal spends 5 minutes between each point picking at his arse crack to the point he virtually changes his underwear between every point and never gets into an bother.

2 sets to 1 down now. I think it will be tough physically to win in 5 sets

The US press are getting all orgasmic about record attendances but all I can see is 2 top players in front of an empty stadium. Embarrassing.

    Umpire hitting headlines again.

Nick Kyrgios was a set and 3-0 behind, the Umpire got down from his chair, went to Kyrgios and said.

This isnt you, whats wrong, I want to help you.

Nick then won 19 of the next 25 games to go through.

Seems to be an unusual friendship between him and Murray (thought that type of player would be the sort that Andy wouldnt want to be seen around), reckon if anyone can sort him out it'll be Murray as he knows all about the psychological side of tennis
  • Watched the Pouille / Sousa game last night, it was an absolute cracker.

Federer out. It looks like the conditions were pretty brutal there
