Very flat. I must of been at a different game if Pratley was suggested as MOM. He was woefull. Thought Fleetwood knocked it around a bit better than us, Igor did ok as well when he came on. Mid table season in store2

I can’t stand these preseason friendlys. I don’t even know what league Fleetstreet play in.

In all seriousness, it’s early days. I thought we played well on Tuesday and were unlucky not to get a point. Today it was poor but I believe in Bowyer and what he’s trying to do.
I think the backdrop of removing the cancer from the club is going to prevent us from competing properly this season, even for the play offs with a fully fit team.
We’ll have some better days but we’ll prob have a few more like today2 -
Get used to this, it's the norm. Some may be better, some worse. But basically this is where we are. Mid table struggling not be be any lower.2

Until any of that changes, mid table is the very best we can hope for.
Under Robinson we often looked far too spread out in terms on width. With Bowyer, both at times last season and this season, we've over-corrected and now look overly stretched back to front. I know that when you're in possession you want to make the pitch as big as possible, but that only works when you have movement off the ball and look overload in areas then spread the play.
Our best attacking was playing long (low) balls to just wide of the penalty area then trying to get our forwards isolated against their men. It's when we looked most dangerous, but it's a trick that teams are getting increasingly good at defending. Even when Grant or Taylor beat their man we usually have 1-v-3 or 2-v-4 in the box. As such, we struggle to create clear cut chances.
I also think the stretched back-to-front makes out midfielders and fullbacks do more running than they need to. Bowyer has talked about the fact that he wants his midfielders doing a lot of running, and that can be a good thing, but I think there is a lot of energy that could be saved if we were tighter with our shape and smarter with our running. Part of the reason we struggle to get those overloads is that our midfield has to do so much up and back running that it's then hard to get into those dangerous pockets of space in the attacking third.
And as sage says, I think a lot of the above leads us to looking shapeless. There were definitely times today when our players seemed confused about whether they were playing a flat 4-4-2 or a diamond in midfield. I'm very much in favor of tactical flexibility and interchanging players, but it requires a good tactical understanding that I don't think we always have.1 -

His first effort didnt come till about the 30th min which surprisingly wasnt a bad effort from distance
Didnt do anything else after that and was no surprise to see him subbed for Vetokele who I thought had a good game on his return - Officials were once again shocking with a free kick being awarded to Fleetwood for Pratley being pushed over being the main highlight - Fully expect Lyle Taylor to have a falling down moment and attack the referee soon... Would definitely like to see the goal Grant scored again as the O/S said on twitter that it was very close, good finish from him though
One note for Fleetwood... Was nice to see two of their players go over to Phillips and give him a pat on the back for the excellent save he made during the second half prior to taking the resulting corner3 -
Need to move the ball much quicker in my opinion. Every attack their back 4/defence are set ready. It was the same on Tuesday. They seem to try and pull the opposition out of position by passing it from one wing to the other, but it's too slow.
Fosu will make a difference as he can beat his man and take players out of the game. Pity they didn't get Holmes back on loan, as he can do the same.
Arsenal lad was a cut above once again.
Great save by Philips from the header.
A point gained at least.

Bowyers top two looks fanciful after the start to the season we’ve witnessed but with Pearce, Fosu set to return plus Igor getting match fit. Cullen and O’Kane to come in things could look very different in quite a short space of time. Let’s hope so because today was very disappointing.2

Well I got my Charlton fix, alas it wasn’t one filled with adrenaline. I attended the protest, my last one was when we were relegated from the championship season. That was lively. Although we had a presence, that too was a bit flat. I humbly suggest the gentleman with the loud hailer upgrade his equipment, the message wasn’t heard by many. It only got mildly interesting with the ‘banter’ with the fella in the stairway concourse.
I watched the warm up, and our shooting practice told me we were in for a long afternoon.
Crispgate, although a clever message, probably feed more people than it did disrupt the game. They only just made it onto the pitch, where a minute’s pause soon cleared them up.
For the game I thought we had a better fist of it than Fleetwood. Dill pulled of a smart save 2nd half to his left which I thought was going in. I thought that was was towns best and only real effort.
We do lack quality don’t we. However solly for me was outstanding, that man is such a clever footballer. Pratley tried, Aribo I thought didn’t show enough desire. Our BFG was solid, page had a go, but overall we were missing some ‘zip’ with the ball.
I do love Sarr, he did give the ball away, once a little bit too risky, he’s a league 1 player after all, but I think he has moments of quality you wouldn’t expect. I know others disagree!
Taylor is a good player. I saw big josh last season and Taylor to me is an improvement. The lad needs more than a couple of opportunities than we provided him. But he will score goals. KG, didn’t do enough for me. It was lovely to see the return of Igor.
Our disallowed goal looked onside from the upper north, purely because I’m biased! We also had a header cleared off the line in the last few minutes that, in my opinion, would of given us the slightly deserved win.
All in all, it’s always good to get a game in and I hope to see a win next year, hopefully not one to avoid relegation, but to put us firmly within shout of promotion. With new owners. A man can dream.

My heart sank when I saw we were kicking the wrong way.
The crossbar challenge bloke hit his target, I hope he gets paid his bonus.
The game wasn't really much cop, but for Phillips critics he kept a clean sheet, yes a great Solly block as well, but Phillips made two very good full stretch tip round saves, and I am very pleased for him. Despite Steer being on loan I can see no reason why Bowyer would drop Dillon.
The game ebbed and flowed at quite a stately pace, a bit of nip and tuck here and there, but it was thoroughbred third division that's for sure. Nobody was that dreadful, nobody was much good. Nobody was a lazy poser, everybody was pretty honest.
I thought Bauer played well against Evans, Solly was industrious, Page was pretty good throughout, and Sarr cheered and terrified by turn. In the midfield they all had the odd moment, all had at least one go at the goal actually, none of them much good, and Aribo really should have scored just before he was subbed.
Talking of subs, I failed to see what Marshall brought to the party, perhaps some Lucozade, certainly some crisps, but very little football. Good to see Igor return, but he was far from explosive. Pratley showed experience, the Arsenal bloke was OK, but we so miss Forster Caskey it is a shame writ very large.
I really liked Taylor, and Grant too, but both missed when they should have scored. Interesting to see Grant pinging in the set pieces after Marshall went off, he was generally positive in his play. Taylor was nice, holding the ball up with that crouching thing he does, optimising unpromising situations, looking to have a go, working hard. Much better than late period Josh, though I have a lot of time for Magennis generally.
Lapslie with his exuberance was delighted to get on the pitch, and was far from a liability.
We are now 6 points behind target, that means winning at home and three away games to catch up. The gap looks very daunting right now, it was a flat atmosphere and the club desperately needs an injection of something good from somewhere, but in terms of the football I believe the players and management are doing their best, we need something better though.14 -

Not too bad defensively but we offer little or nothing going forward. A very poor game.
Page and Solly did okay but our midfield is very pedestrian. Can't see us scoring many goals this season.

Just got home from watching one of the most boring games of football I've seen in years.
Not one of the worse as we never got hammered or anything like that.
But that was as flat a performance and as quiet an atmosphere I've witnessed at the valley for a league game in years.
Even the protest was flat compared to previous ones.
The only positive s are that we kept a clean sheet and that Phillips and page appear to be getting better with each game.
We desperately lack creativity in midfield and desperately need Fosu to return asap.
Also it was good to see Vetokele back in a Charlton shirt again.
