My father was born and brought up in Tottenham, and was a regular at White Hart Lane from the 1930s to the 50s. He took me, as a nipper, to my first proper match: Spurs v Blackpool in 1964, featuring Jimmy Armfield and Alan Gilzean: 4-1. The following season, against Liverpool (2-0), I admired the Greaves - Gilzean partnership again, though Greaves needed no help when he scored directly from a corner...0
