Passed away aged 78.
Three time Wimbledon singles champion in the fifties and sixties.
By all accounts a lovely human being too. A friend of mine is heavily involved at Beckenham Tennis Club and apparently Maria Bueno always used to support the Beckenham Tournament which used to be a warm up for Wimbledon. She was known for always being willing to give impromptu tips to the club players and always supported functions if in the country.

Remember her playing and winning at Wimbledon. Took a fancy to her as well, seemed a very feminine lady, unlike some of doubtful sexuality.
