How does anyone muster up any enthusiasm for an England game, just asking?

    #suckersforpunishment

I love football, I live in hope. It's an opportunity to go to the pub and share an experience with friends, rather than them laughing at Charlton, or me hoping that both teams on view lose.

Why does anyone come on a thread they know to be about England just to be negative and have a go at those who care about the national team?
I don’t think I was being specifically negative, I was simply asking the question.

I understand why we go through the turmoil we do with Charlton because of our deep connection and affinity but England?

Is like watching Charlton at the moment, movement is excellent and they're doing well to win the ball back.

Yet we could rue these missed chances if we play like this in the Knockout Stages of the World Cup

Lots of excellent build up play. Should be 2 or 3 nil up.

2-0 Kane. That's more like it. First time it's fallen to him instead of Alli/Sterling/Lingard.

Phoaaa thats what you call a Striker!!!

the pace on that shot is what forced the mistake there!!!

    The movement is excellent.

Kane doesn’t sit as an isolated centre forward and it causes the defenders problems with others running beyond him.

    Goal!

If we can give Kane constant service we might do something past the groups

Dont remember the last time I saw England play so well in a friendly - Nigeria will get destroyed in their Group yet not sure if they're making us look good or whether we're making them look awful

Playing some nice stuff. Nigeria are woeful. Love the stadium, but really weird crowd acoustics

Ok I will answer, that feeling you get as you walked down Floyd Road with your dad or stood in the Covered End, that feeling when Charlton go on a rare cup run and even though you know they wont win it, you enjoy every minute? Well I feel that way walking down Wembley Way with my son, or meeting up with a group of good lads who support Port Vale or Torquay while having a few beers in a far off country following England. I get excited every tournament year and yes when England, my country are playing I feel all the emotion I would following Charlton.

I dont expect anyone else to, that your choice and if that makes me a sucker for punishment then bring it on.

Oh and when Scotland loose even though I have Scottish friends and love visiting the country, it makes an England victory all the better, I know they feel the same

That was shocking defending - 4 white shirts in the box and none reacted when the ball came back off the post.

Commentators are right... If Nigeria can make a game of this its going to be easier for Southgate to work on things

Sterling: can't shoot in a white shirt. Is this an argument for England to play in pale blue? Also, that was an embarrassing dive.

    Cracking goal for Nigeria.

    10,000 Nigerians in the crowd.

That’s fantastic away support, the Nigerian airports must’ve been chock a block.
