The Royals are a soap opera. Discuss them all you want, but if you find yourself tugging the forelock getting jealous of them then you're effectively submitting to fictional characters

You are a traitor and a swine. If you met them you'd realise they're just the same as you but with possibly a slightly bigger house, more servants and more holidays...

    All people are born equal.

Unless your last name is Windsor.

    Get outta my thread

    Born Barbara Deeks in Stepney.
Babs thought Windsor would be a better name to use.

George V changed Royal name in 1917 from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha because of anti German feelings and the fact that a plane called Gotha had dropped bombs on London.

I've met royalty, even worked for royalty (not British). They're just people. You don't need to worship them or take shit from them. The stupider ones tend to buy into their own hype a bit and the smarter ones are a little bit more humble (they all have fuck-off houses and armies of domestic staff). But showing humility is not in itself praiseworthy. Having a baby is not praiseworthy over any other baby. Doing military service is not praiseworthy

    Sorry, someone rang.

Doing military service is not praiseworthy over anyone else doing military service. Of course, there's the soap-opera aspect of the British royal family and that's fine; it sells papers and magazines, distracts us from disaster. But I really think the interest a lot of people take, and the investment they put in, might not be healthy, considering we're talking about an institution that we are all disbarred from on account of our lower station in a thoroughly outdated system of privilege.

    Truly amazing revelations Leuth.
I'm so grateful for your wonderful insight.

Can I vote for you to be my leader?

I have no problems with German or Greek folk.
My problem is with a Germanic Family who created the myth of being English and eradicated their own history. I guess that's why they did the nazi salute in the 1930's in case they needed to change their names back again.

From birth, would you be happy for your life to be laid bare by the media. Be told who you can and can't sicialise with. Be on duty virtually every day of your adult life and be ridiculed and accountable for everything you said and done. Turn out for public engagements, on demand, with a smile to meet and greet strangers, all while heading up various chatities, all for say, £10 million?
    Yes. Absolutely.

Harry's life has looked pretty dandy barring the loss of his mother at a similar age to me losing my own mother...

Don't get me wrong I would not change anything in how this life has played out for me, but I am certain my teens would have been happier with the best professionals guiding me through mourning and getting to make the friendships and relationships that only someone very wealthy can!

Good point. They lost their mum as kids due to being Royals. I wouldn't wish to swap lives with them.
Lucky me, my parenthood situation or lack thereof doesn't change!

I don't know how that likelihood would differ had William and Harry not been born of the royal family, other than they would likely have never been born to be the fantastic men they are.

Still don't support the royals of course!

The animals were sold off and the site was turned into Legoland.

The establishment arse kissers will get their tongues up the royal crack, the smarmy pretend anti establishment gits will hold their noses. The rest of us will carry on watching our society being dismantled and fighting among ourselves.

Sorry Dazzler you've lost me there.
I've nothing but sympathy and admiration for anybody that lost a parent in childhood.

My point was William and Harry lost their mother, because she was a Royal being hounded by the paparazzi. Sorry for any confusion.

Fucking love the royal family will be very upset when big phil or her maj pops the clogs

Can’t wait for Charlie to get his birth rite and be king of England it will be a joyous and momentous day

Personally I think feeling too strongly about the royal family one way or another is just a little bit weird....

I've never felt the same since the Queen Mum died - the UK has gone downhill ever since.

  • Anyone think it's strange that national treasure Dale Winton passes and within a few days we are all blessed with a royal baby?

    Coincidence? I think not.

I must admit as a committed republican I did lay awake at nights worrying that my daughter might fall in love with Prince William or Harry on one of their many visits to the night spots of South East London but fortunately for me they must have just managed to miss each other.

I’m not sure which worried me most. That or that my daughter might get abducted by aliens from the planet zog.

What an absolutely and totally bizarre post nla. Lol
