1st of all good luck to everyone running in it, have 2 pals that are charlton st holders, they have done very well and as a team of 6 have raised £12,000 for wheelpower, a few of us are heading up to see them and meet them after the finish, any shouts of where to go along the route near the end where you could have a pint and stand outside?.

    Near the end around Embankment is always rammed. Always found Isle of Dogs the best place for relative lack of congestion and chance for a beer on a grassy knoll whilst the race is ongoing. Afterwards you may be better off heading back to Covent Garden or just buying some cans and going to sit in St James Park - your mates will be pissed after two drinks!

    Cheer everyone on, not just the ones dressed up, it really does help. Obviously an extra big cheer for SCP if you spot him.

    One of the best days of the year to show off London and its people coming together. Really gets to me year on year having run it in memory of my mum five years ago now.

    Good luck to all, weather looks good for spectators (not so much for runners).

    Dont forget the DLR strike which, if goes ahead, will hinder people getting round different parts of the route.



    The RMT has announced strike action on the DLR. This will run from 04:00 on Friday 20 April, until 03:59 on Tuesday 24 April. The strike has been called over a dispute with KeolisAmey Docklands who operate the DLR on behalf of TfL.

    Plans are being developed with the aim of operating a limited service over the four days, which coincide with the London Marathon on Sunday 22 April.

    If the strike goes ahead, extra bus services will be deployed along the DLR network over the four days. All other TfL services will be operating as usual, however there will be road closures around the London Marathon route from early Sunday morning. The Jubilee, Central, District and Hammersmith & City lines in East London are expected to be busier than usual and stations including Canary Wharf, Canada Water, London Bridge, Canning Town, Bank and Stratford may be exceptionally busy.

    Further information on what services may operate will be communicated ahead of the strike and posters, digital boards and announcements in London Underground and London Overground stations will keep customers informed of the levels of service.

    this, the same level of selfishness when a few years back the done a tube strike the night of an important england game.

    Good luck to anyone running this year, Greenie Jnr Jnr ran it last year, very proud of him. We had a cracking day out legging it around London and the tube catching him at various points, get the app and follow yer favourite runners.

    I watched at Canary Wharf last year - couple of decent bars at Cabot square where you can watch and booze. - although they don’t serve alcohol between 3 - 5!!!! Apparently it kicked off a few years ago.

    Gonna be a hot one, in fact it could be the hottest London Marathon on record. Anyone running pace yourself and take on plenty of water.

    Rose of Denmark in Charlton is a good place to start off at - normally have a band going and not too crowded, plus easy for friends who are running to spot you at.

    Then train into town to catch them again.

    Depends how keen you are. Since moving to greenwich 10 year ago have always lived just off the Woolwich Road, have always started there at between 5 and 6 miles, walked up to Maze Hill or Westcombe Park, get the train to Greenwich and change to DLR to Canary Wharf where you can see your runners at mile 11 and 17 and fit lunch in between.

    Jubilee line up to Westminster and a battle to see your runners close to the end.
