As a hobby, I undertake presentations on the subject of Native American History and in doing so raise cash, by way of voluntary donations, to a school on a reservation that I emotionally and financially support. It is very rewarding hobby. My audiences are normally clubs/institutions, numbering between 20-40.
This week I received a call from a woman representing a 9 person group of "Shamanic Drummers", who wants me to undertake a presentation in a large private house in the town where I live. My vocabulary doesn't recognise the word "Shamanic", so I had too rely on Google to open my mind.
It seems that Shamanic relates to a ancient philosophy where the people enter into some differing mental state, often following hours of rhythmic drumming, make contact with some spirits, who in turn regulate the negative bodily energies, that cause mental or physical imbalances. The Shamans apparently wear loose clothing to aid this contact.
I am to undertake my presentation on Friday 13 April and the only mental baggage that I am carrying and hope to overcome on the day, is the ownership of Charlton FC. I shall insist that my shamanic spirit kicks RD into touch on that day.
