Robinson confirmed he felt he had to step aside at Charlton while they go through their own uncertain takeover process.
"There's so many different circumstances that could happen there," he said. "I offered to resign as I didn't think it was right for people to come in without their own man in charge.
"But, I really loved every minute of my time there and it's a great football club."
Bit different to what he said 9 days ago.1 -
First game Pompey away on Sunday being televised by Sky. Post match interview will be interesting. Could do us a favour by beating them.0

Didn’t waste any time did he?0

Oh well, good luck Robbo.
I just hope you've learnt from your unwilligness to try and change things when it's not working, but I doubt you have.1 -
Interesting thing as of yet is that no player has come out and said thanks boss or anything on social media, something you see quite often nowadays0

Nah he'll play 4231 and Oxford will win 5-0cafc4life said:Bet he plays 4-4-2 on Sunday

Struth, that MK job centre are on the ball. He's only just left and they found him another job.4

It will be interesting to see how both Oxford and us set up on Saturday.1

From a media point of view, Karl was easily the best since Powell to deal with.
I found him to be an infectious character and my pre-judgements about him were quickly wiped away when I got to witness his passion and beliefs in the club first hand. I felt like he 'got' Charlton and its values within the community.
However, his stubbornness to adapt when the going got tough and his inability to set-up well tactically (with the exception of a handful of matches) as well as his tendency for one quote too many was his downfall.
His promises of 100+ goals were always ambitious, but it gave some fans something to believe in. Certainly the start of the season up until that Portsmouth game, you sensed a lot were behind him. But under this ownership, any success was rather unlikely regardless of whether our team was good enough or not.
Also worth noting that he's only 37, four years younger than Bowyer. So these mistakes could change in the next couple of years.
Like @KillersBeard alluded to, the change in him over the last couple of weeks was evident. He'd had enough. And his reactions Saturday showed that.
I wish him well but this club is due for a complete fresh transition anyway.
Bring it on.23 -
Bullshit, you wanted the Oxford job. Usual excuses.shirty5 said:Robinson confirmed he felt he had to step aside at Charlton while they go through their own uncertain takeover process.

The grammar is terrible in this post. What are you trying to say? Who is/are us? When did he tell us this? Yeah change formation Karl, who else would play up front in a two other than an unfit winger from Wolves and a bloke that did not get a game at Bury whom is probably just as unfit! Do you think Karl singled out unfit players to sign? Of course not. He would of wanted more strikers as much of the rest of 'us'. Good luck Karl, you may may of failed but I believed you were Charlton while here. GOOD LUCK ON THE FUTURE!Nicholas said:Goodbye Robinson, you was warned before you took the job on how much of a shambles the club is, however like the all the other crap managers before you, you thought you could be a hero and do the unthinkable. We told you about Roland and Meire but straight away you came in telling us how wonderful they were. You are just like them a Liar and a failure.
You spouted so much crap, you told us what a wonderful squad we had, you told us we were going to have one of the fittest teams in the division especially when you tried to justify playing 3 games in 3 days when losing to some irish pub side. You played the same formation week in week out even though it went stale about 5 months ago. You told us we would be challenging for promotion.
As much as I have disliked you, especially because your a big mouth who talk's crap, now's your chance to redeem yourself by talking publicly about what a shambles the club is and how much of a disgrace the Rat is. I have a feeling you wont, no doubt you have sold yourself and everyone out and wont say anything as you have been given a little payoff to keep shut. If you keep quiet now your a disgrace of a man and I hope you go on to have a shit career in football like Russel Slade.
p.s. I look forward to your interview bouncing around like a school girl telling everyone what a big club Oxford is and how could anyone refuse to manage a team with a quarter of the ground missing and a bowling alley right outside.18 -

Not even sure the 'while' shouldn't be 'whilst', but far better qualified pedants than me will tell you. Or should 'me' be 'I'?0 -
Amidst all of the very pleasant "Good Luck and Thanks Robbo" messages, I would just like to put forward my own "anti-thanks" message to Karl.
Karl, in terms of results I'll always think of you as the guy who delivered three home defeats against Oxford who we had never before lost a home fixture to. You gave us our first league defeat at London Road and enabled Peterborough to record their first ever home and away double over us. You're the first manager to ever lose a home fixture against Wigan. Finally, you are the first Charlton manager to lose at Priestfield since 1929, the first ever manager to lose a home fixture against the Gills, and the history books will list you as the first and only manager to lose a home and away double to the Gills since we first played them since 1921.
However, you'll be remembered by me less for your crap management, and more for the amount of total bollocks that you spouted so consistently and for the fact that you crawled up to our idiotic owners and bought in to the preposterously stupid "let's blag our way to January and then try and put together a proper squad" plan.
At the Legends game last year, I hated watching you buddying up to Chris Powell, who graced our dugout with far more class and dignity then you could ever could.
I can't be bothered to go through your press conferences and list all of your nonsensical excuses. However, one thing I can say for sure is that the fans definitely haven't "got their team back", but it feels a small step closer now that you've cleared off.
