I know that Richard Murray hasn’t promised a date or even month but he has given the impression that a deal is all but done and will be concluded pretty soon.

If we don’t get a conclusion to this epic saga within a month of his latest update he really is going to look increasingly like a complete pillock.

It's the impression thing that concerns me.

The OS don't stop banging on about a potential sale. Constantly airing Robinson's thoughts on the matter and how it is affecting him and the team.
And then we have Murray putting his head on the chopping block when he could quite easily sit back and say nothing.
This doesn't follow the pattern of takeovers passed. It feels like a bit of desperation to me or certainly flag waving in the hope that potential buyers will make a move or get involved if they are not already.

Please recognise there is no material difference any new ownership regime can make to the club over the coming two months. Indeed it could be a major distraction with the endless questions about their future plans, their future investment strategy, the status of the current managers, coaches and players.

A change of Manager, a few bosman's and we could be back in with some chance... Or it could derail us.

The fact that this is literally the only point I in part disagreed with tells me your post was well thought out and delivered, it has no place on this thread
Quite right. Leave it any longer and next season is well on the way to being screwed too. Just when everybody else is sorting transfer priorities for the off-season, Charlton are drifting along with no clue of funds, budget, management, senior executives... just basically frickin everything is stuck going nowhere.
You’ve just summed up the four years under Duchatelet and Meire.

Agreed except he'll only come out and say how it was all out of his hands.

I didn't believe him when he said February could be possible.

The thing that I can't get my head around though is by RD not having a January fire sale which could have happened (rejected bids for Konsa, Fosu, Magennis, JFC?) then surely the only reason RD didn't take the money, sell the club and run would have been because a sale was as close then as suggested by Murray with RD told he can't sell anyone.

Not that anyone wanted a firesale but in RD's mind alone surely he would have expected a sale by now too. If on 31st Jan someone had said by as late as mid March RD would still be here I'd have fully expected a firesale of the squad - which didn't happen thankfully but even worse RD is still here too. Why?
Very possibly a deal was agreed but doucebag thought he could screw the buyers for a bit more money at the last minute. "Buyers" by now fed up with his antics told him to fuck off & walked away & this is where we are now.

    hardly

Once a month statements from Murray. If he said nothing he'd be completely slagged off for not saying anything about the takeover...
As for Robinson, he'll talk about anything and everything, and if he's asked a question about the takeover, will reply.

Not really because, as you yourself said, he promised nothing.

If people choose to believe it's all but done and are then disappointed when it hasn't happened yet then more fool them.

I’m not sure about that H.

When someone like RM takes it upon himself to update the fans who lets face it are mostly desperate for news that cuts through the conjecture and rumour mill regarding the sale of the club I think he’s unlikely to lie or make things up. Given the content of his last update I think fans can be forgiven for thinking like me that a sale was not very far away. I know he didn’t promise anything but he’s the club mouthpiece ( yes he is) and he did imply a deal was done bar the legal details. Now that might still be bang on the money but my point is that the longer this saga goes on or if he was wildly wide of the mark then he’s increasingly going to look extremely foolish.

Fair comment, but my information necessarily comes from clandestine sources. So it doesn't carry the same authority as three statements by a club director carried on the club's website and reported by mainstream media outlets. Despite that, I suspect RM doesn't have the full picture either - or if he does he hasn't shared it.

That's a bit of a problem for Henry's mantra, though. If Murray is wrong so is the official website.

In the same way that the official site said that Tony Jimenez owned much of the club, Henry?

    Details, there was a takeover.

Doesn't mean the six questions won't need answering.

The combination of takeover speculation and the odd carefully selected crumb from Murray has stopped the protests in their tracks.

Roland should give Mr Rubashow or whoever else has orchestrated a bonus.

I suppose that we can only console ourselves with the fact that he, like all of us, will eventually die.

Until then forget about the takeover - 'though winter's advancing, we'll stay young go dancing'

Good to see another Death Cab fan. Whenever I mention them, I always feel like I have to add "...they're not a death-metal band."
Let me know if they are ever playing live in London. I would come over especially for that.

35 pages on here since the price was agreed.

I bet Duchatelet comes on here and has a right laugh.

Can everyone who comes on this thread from now on just post 'no comment' until the deal is done and dusted please?

No more waffle, no more speculation, no more desperation.

Just everybody nonchalently say 'no comment'

Come on boys lets get a lynching @flyingkiwiDK he said it was happening today.

Indeed I did. I also clearly remember saying that it was just a hunch. I was hopeful it would happen today but I was wrong. I admit that.

I now firmly believe that the old scrot is stringing any potential buyer along up until the point when we know what division we will be playing in next season in the hope that he can squeeze more money out of them. I also believe that this plan will backfire and all interest in the club will disappear meaning we are back to square one. A club firmly in limbo with a very bleak future ahead of us.

In my opinion if the sale isn’t completed by the end of May every single person who cares about our club should get themselves over to Belgium for the biggest show or defiance the absolute tosser who has mismanaged Charlton for the past four years has ever seen. I wouldn’t think twice about hopping on a plane and joining you all.

Nothing else matters anymore. I don’t even care if we miss out on promotion. RD must go so we can finally put an end to this nightmare and move forward both as a club and fan base.
