3 players with the same surname

I hadn't realised until this evening that Walsall had 3 unrelated players called Roberts in their team today, the own goal was by the defender Kory Roberts, with Liam in goal and Tyler up front.
Can't have happened too often...

In the 1962 European Athletics Championships in Belgrade the bronze medal winning GB 4 x 100 metre relay team comprised David Jones, Ron Jones, Berwyn Jones and Alf Meakin.
The 3 Jones' were all unrelated.

I think the key words in the opening post were 'unrelated players'Anna_Kissed said:Three brothers, Rod, Danny and Ray Wallace, who came from Lewisham, were in the Southampton team that played against Sheffield Wednesday on 22nd October 1988.

I think Glamorgan CCC used to field Alan Jones, Jeff Jones and Eiffon Jones in the 1960s (maybe early 70s)LenGlover said:In the 1962 European Athletics Championships in Belgrade the bronze medal winning GB 4 x 100 metre relay team comprised David Jones, Ron Jones, Berwyn Jones and Alf Meakin.

well yes, you'd expect three brothers to share a surname, but doubt you get three in the same team often. I only saw there were three called Roberts in the Walsall team when I got home, only noticed two during the game. Am not very observant.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

In 2009 Wales fielded an international rugby union side against England
which included Adam Jones as a prop, Alun Wyn Jones in the second row, Ryan Jones in the back row, Stephen Jones at fly half and Mark Jones at wing threequarter.
Furthermore Daffyd Jones came on as a back row replacement meaning that there were six Jones' on the field for part of the match.

Keeping on the Rugby theme - New Zealand have played Ben, Arron and Conrad Smith in the same team.LenGlover said:In 2009 Wales fielded an international rugby union side against England

England's 1986 World Cup squad had the two different Gary Stevens as well as Trevor Steven. Must have confused Bobby Robson, who also had his namesake Bryan Robson in there as well.1

I remember reading that Robson went ballistic at the airport once asking where Peter Reid Was ....he was politely reminded that he hadn’t named Reid in the squad.CharltonMadrid said:England's 1986 World Cup squad had the two different Gary Stevens as well as Trevor Steven. How about Robbie Slater, Carl Tiler and Richard Rufus1

We had the Kimble twins, Alan and Gary.
They each played several League games for us, but can't remember if they both appeared together in the same team.

Yes, that's right. They were brothers. Eiffon has a highly rated wicket keeper but he must have been around at the same time as Alan Knott, so I don't think he ever got into the England side.LenGlover said:
