Welcome Tom Rubashow - New CAFC Head of Comms

Not a mistake then to give someone a three year contract to come in to set a date for the players to come back and reintroduce club suits, etc. Couldn't Keith Peacock have done that, working one day a week?Essex_Al said:
Actually, I think the appointment of Slade was a reasonable one at the time even though I personally was underwhelmed. What Slade did do was make a lot of changes at the training ground, identified glaring errors in summer training schedules and rehab schedules. He made the players wear club suits to matches, a small thing but all about bringing some pride back to the side. So as KR has already stated, the basics of the club were set up and in place and that was down to Slade.Airman Brown said:
Was the appointment of Slade a "mistake" and if so who made it and why?Essex_Al said:For the past three years many of you have been moaning at how crap the communication from the club has been, even I'll concede it has been poor. So now RD has hopefully seen the light (and yes, that could well be down to the protests of last year) and employed someone with undoubted pedigree. What he is being paid is immaterial to the likes of you and I, it is RD that is funding it.
He has made changes to the footballing side in players and managers and appears to want to get the club back to the Championship as soon as possible. Slade didn't cut the mustard so he has moved swiftly to bring a young enthusiastic manager that hopefully can get us up. We will have to see in January, but it once again appears that KR will be backed in the transfer market.
Improvements have been made, but it seems at the moment he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't!
Thanks in anticipation.
Where he let himself down was unfortunately on the pitch, too many draws which highlighted his negativity and probably the reason he has never had a promoted side. It may have been harsh on him to be let go, but I really think RD wants success this season, hence KR's appointment.
Obviously not a mistake, because otherwise you would have to concede that after two and a half years of mistakes, Roland and Katrien had got it wrong yet again. Instead it is Slade's fault that it didn't work out - just like it was Powell's, Peeters', Luzon's, Fraeye's and Riga's.
My point is that at some stage you have to accept that RD and KM will never get it right because they are the problem. They cannot see, for example, that having Thomas Driesen involved in any capacity whatsoever is ridiculous. Now they are spending hundreds of thousands on PR advisers to try to pretend that everything is wonderful, even though the only thing that will change the situation at the club is credible management on and off the pitch (and especially on).
I am quite positive about Robinson and certainly willing to give him every chance, but if you don't grasp the fact that every manager since 2014 - even the hapless Karel Fraeye - has been undermined from above then I fear you will be doomed to a process of continuous and regular disappointment. Whatever the good intentions, Robinson's best hope of success is that all telecommunications are cut from Belgium and KM spends her days at work internet shopping (and not for footballers). Then he might have a chance.

I like the gaffer and its a good analogy, the trouble with puppies you have to know when to give them a loose lead and when they need guidance. The problem lies at the other end of the lead, if that person has no clue what they are doing then you have a problem. (Disclaimer......I have no idea about running a football club, I'm talking about puppies)EveshamAddick said:Quite touching to see how enthusiastic KR is at the moment - like an overexcited puppy. Whether that will be still be the case in 15 games time and after the January window only time will tell. RD's ambitions for this year will be plain to see if we can keep hold of our best players in January.

I thought you we're going to tell us that the trouble with puppies is a tendency to pee all over the place.T.C.E said:

Now, I don't know KR....1 -
There is something so wrong and fake at KM's reaction to whatever Karl says to her. It is her trying far too hard to create some sort of impression, so OTT and overexcited schoolgirl.Six-a-bag-of-nuts said:

anyone got a link to this video?
Thought he was going to give KP a frenchy.
I know we don't need to analyse every little thing they do, but sometimes they do provide a little insight into how someone operates.

Will the appointment of another/more PR experts mean that the club again issues a statement about recognising the need for better communication with fans, followed by a no-recording, no-videoing, hand-picked-audience with Katrien event? I would reckon that to be meeting No.35 unless some have slipped by.0

Just looked at his Twitter feed. Fella hardly ever comments.
Is this not pretty bad form for any head of communication in any industry these days?
Twitter should be a comms man's bread and butter shouldn't it?

It's when you see someone suggesting that Donald Trump makes a good role model to Charlton's PR lackey that you see how far every part of the club has fallen.carly burn said:Just looked at his Twitter feed. Fella hardly ever comments.

In his role, he ought to be determining the complete communications strategy, key themes, messages, channels, dovetailing of website and social media, eliciting and learning from inwards communications, making sure everything is lined up between internal and external brand values and specific content.
And, quite critically, to keep the top brass from shooting their mouths off and making things a whole lot worse. TR did that quite successfully with KM but clearly not with either Murray or Duchatelet himself.15 -

Shrove Tuesday.
It was over by 4.15pm when he realised he'd bombed the wrong Country.1 -

This thread getting bumped has reminded me of Essex Al's previous support for Roland. Some unbelievable comments!2

The job is, or should be, as I described. If he is not able or allowed to perform that job then he should have the balls to say enough is enough and go work elsewhere. That's what Mel Baroni did, and she deserves huge credit for it. I reckon TR is a talented guy - he certainly helped KM enormously - but if all he wants to be is a lackey for Duchatelet he will find his career grinding to a halt.Swisdom said:

Just checked out Mel Baroni's LinkedIn page. If I got the right one, she was so traumatised and embarassed by her short stay with Charlton that she doesn't mention it.
She was happy to mention that she was jailed for selling crack outside school gates though.9 -

Not much of a job though is it. A Head of Comms who's job (as it turned out) was effectively to gag his boss because she couldn't be trusted not to say something incendiary every time she opened her mouth.Davo55 said:

Tom Rubashow will read this and will also know that the incoherent gobbledygook that Roland peddled earlier was indefensible.
The next 48 hours will tell us a lot about his character, I suspect we may find a run of newsworthy items such as charity quizzes, academy signings and upgraded websites in an attempt to knock it off the front page, to me the lack of social media to re-enforce the bizarre statement speaks volumes...16 -
He'll start another takeover rumour and everyone will lap it up.3

We’ve got Taylor wearing pink boots in October for Cancer Research, which is fair enough as it is a cause personal to Lyle and you can donate to his fund at:
https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/lyles-giving-page-1
but then we get some old guff about a marriage proposal on the pitch.
I’m hoping the next one will be something environmental, possibly to do with saving hedgehogs.
