Can't find anything about this on CL yet. But this stroy broke a few hours ago...
A train had derailed in America and fallen onto a highway. Several dead and several injured. RIP to all those who have lost their lives in this terrible tragedy.

My sister in law takes this freeway right under those train tracks every day.
There were 83 on board and 77 are in the hospital. 13 of the 14 cars derailed. Per km, trains are actually more deadly than flying commercial jets.0 -
Shocking and sad especially this close to xmas
RIP0 -
train was travelling at 80mph in a 30mph zone - WTF ??
RIP to the dead0 -
Surely, as planes are the safest form of transport, everything is more deadly than flying?NapaAddick said:My sister in law takes this freeway right under those train tracks every day.

The per KM stats are a bit misleading, with long haul flights flying 6000 to 7000 miles. And trains run through urban area, so have to deal with pissed passengers, suicides etcNapaAddick said:My sister in law takes this freeway right under those train tracks every day.

Another good example that we desperately need large scale investment in infrastructure, not...well, you know how this goes.

Thoughts with those who have lost loved ones. Absolutely awful.0
