Can anyone recommend a bike for heavier people?

Im a big lad anyway, always been built big but i weigh in at about 130kg. Most bikes i have seen have about 100kg as their max weight.
Im determined to find one but money is tight this year, with 2 little ones and a third on the way, whilst saving for our wedding. So really we only have about £150 max to spend.
Any recommendations would be great thanks

Decathlon good for bikes and always give good advice in my experience.
Don't think they're overly pricey either.1 -
ShanksPony Velo - especially good for weight loss - and cheap too.1

Old fashioned upright with a spring saddle seems to be the recommendation.
Spokes and suspensions go on the new fangled stuff and the saddles are uncomfortable.
The upright seems to be recommended for those with a bit of a gut as breathing is hard in the drop handle position.

The link below seems a very good price for a fully equipped aluminium frame Raleigh Hybrid (reduced) - good for city cycling.
Only 16" and 21" frames appear to be available - 16" for 5'.0" - 5'.5" - 21" for 5' 9" - 6'.1"):

@kidbrookeaddick I don't know your circumstances mate, but a lot of employers have taken part in the Bike4Work scheme. Generally comes out of your salary over a year and means you can get a bit more for your money as it is pre-tax.2

I wouldn't worry too much about the supposed weight the bike can carry. I'm heavier than the supposed maximum on my 3 yo bike and have had no problems. But make sure you have wheels for heavier riders with at least 36 spokes. Any less and you risk them collapsing.kidbrookeaddick said:Hi my missus has asked me what i want for christmas and this year i really want to kick start losing weight and ive always loved riding bikes but havent done so for about 6 years, which has led to me piling on the pounds.

Now seeing that happen would make me laugh.1

...which is one of the specific reasons overweight people don't lose weight. Every time I see someone fat trying to do something about it, I remember what it was like when I was fat - and how roidheads at the Gym used to laugh, and people giggled as I wobbled past them. Makes me sad - then I remember that I'm probably fitter than every prick that used to take the piss out of me, am racing at a decent level on the bike, can fuck all night and have more energy than the snide 20 years olds at workRobbo on the wing said:Now seeing that happen would make me laugh.

Not read it all, but there may be some advice in there about specific bikes. Hybrid would be your best bet - definitely look at something like Decathlon to start with as they're cheap and robust. Think most hybrids also come with more durable wheelsets than 'racing' bikes1 -
I wouldn't know, being an innocent, but I'd imagine getting back in shape might help with that alright (admittedly, I do know many who have hidden shallows).kidbrookeaddick said:I do plenty of walking on a daily basis, i just always eat the wrong things but im going to get my head straight and i want to get back riding too, its something i enjoyed!

I know very little about bikes these days but I wouldn’t have thought £150 is going to buy you very much......especially as you are looking for something that’s a bit specialised.0

FFS, if anyone was riding a bike and the spokes snapped and they fell it would make me laugh, fat or thin.
On the assumption they never went under a bus obviously.

For £150 you should think about a second hand bike. Most new ones at that price are just crap and will cause you nothing but grief.3

I bought a Halfords Carrera 2 hybrid when I was 23st Monsieur Kidbrooke, the bike has survived perfectly well. Enthusiasts will talk up indy bike shops and expensive high spec lightweight bikes but I was fine with one of those Halfords budget jobbies. The care-plan add-on was worth it as well, I got them to change tyres fairly regularly as the seasons changed, they replaced a wheel for free and also tinkered with the gears several times.
Be prepared for a load of other cycling toot for future ‘presents’.0
